Special Undergraduate Certificate Program

The Alabama State Department of Education (ASLDE) is offering a new quick route to a class B Professional Educator certification for future 6-12 Special Education teachers, and AUM is part of this route!

Teaching the Future: AUM Early Learning Center

Both AUM College of Education students and community members benefit from the AUM Early Learning Center, a model training site and professional development school for future teachers. Children enrolled are from diverse racial groups/ethnic backgrounds and have varied academic/social needs.




The College of Education is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and all its Educator Preparation programs are approved by the Alabama Department of Education. The College of Education at Auburn University at Montgomery recently (May 2021) received full recognition of accreditation at both the initial and advanced licensure levels through Spring 2028. Secondary English Language Arts is accredited by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), the Early Childhood ALT A master’s program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the Physical Education bachelor’s and ALT A programs are accredited by the Society for Health and Physical Education (SHAPE), and the Instructional Technology Master’s program is accredited by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).​​

Office of Student Services and Teacher Certification

The Office of Student Services and Teacher Certification can assist you with academic advising, securing your internship and applying for a Professional Educator Certificate from Alabama’s State Department of Education.

Academic Advising

The core mission of the College of Education advising office is to assist students from admission to graduation. Students have the opportunity to meet personally with an advisor.
