The faculty and staff of the College of Education are devoted to preparing future leaders in the field of Education and work to constantly improve the quality of education services.
The College of Education Dean’s Office oversees the four academic units and their programs; furthermore, it is responsible for the administrative support in the areas of assessment and evaluation. The Dean’s Office collaborates with the local business and the educational community for the purpose of enhancing partnerships and student placement opportunities. Curriculum, Instruction, and Technology The Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Technology houses degree programs in Secondary Education, Elementary Education, and Instructional Technology. The faculty provide innovative pedagogy designed to prepare quality teachers and technology leaders to facilitate learning in the 21st century.
Kinesiology The Kinesiology department houses the Physical Education (P-12) program, the Exercise Science program and the Sport Management/Leadership program. The highly qualified Kinesiology faculty is well-known for their work on cutting-edge research and grants, being American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) fellows, and holding ACSM and NSCA-CSCS certifications.
Counselor, Leadership and Special Education The faculty of Counselor, Leadership and Special Education are well-known scholars and practitioners who actively mentor candidates. The faculty initiate, support and participate in research related to counseling, teacher education and instructional leadership with the aim of improving the quality of education services.
The accreditation of the College of Education is by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and all its programs are approved by the Alabama Department of Education.
The Office of Student Services and Teacher Certification can assist you with academic advising, securing internships, and applying for a Professional Educator Certificate from Alabama’s State Department of Education.
