University College
AUM’s University College (UC) includes five units focused on undergraduate student success in college and preparation for the lives they want after graduation.
In your orientation to AUM, our advisors will help you decide on a schedule of classes that will get you off to a strong start. Throughout your degree program, your advisor will be your go-to person for questions about your academic program and the most effective way to progress towards your degree. In your first semester, you will enroll in a UNIV 1000 seminar taught by our UNIV Student Success faculty, who will serve as mentors to you throughout your college career. Our Experiential Education and Engagement Center (EEEC) will provide you opportunities for internships in your field, service learning in our community, and undergraduate research in your major. Our University Honors Program provides meaningful challenges and opportunities for AUM’s most academically accomplished and motivated students.
UC faculty and staff collaborate with other colleges and offices on campus to support, advocate for, and provide transformational learning experiences for all of AUM’s undergraduate students. Our vision is to see every one of our students dressed in cap and gown as you accept your diploma and walk across the graduation stage to the cheers of your family, friends, and the AUM community.

AUM’s University College (UC) supports student success across all academic majors. University College includes Central Advising, Experiential Education & Engagement Center, the UNIV Student Success Program, and the University Honors Program. University College also houses the Exploratory major and the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree program, providing students with academic guidance and opportunities to explore their interests and career goals.
The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) degree from AUM gives students the flexibility to combine coursework from multiple academic areas and create a degree plan based on their individual career goals.
For example, a student interested in owning a tutoring business could combine business and education courses to prepare for that career. The BIS can also be a flexible option for students who have earned college credits but changed their academic or career direction and who want to complete a bachelor’s degree without taking unnecessary additional courses.
AUM also has an agreement with Faulkner University that provides an accelerated pathway to law school for eligible BIS students. Students who have earned 90 credits and are accepted into the Jones School of Law may begin law school during what would have been their senior year at AUM, creating an opportunity to earn both the BIS and a Juris Doctorate in as few as six years.
AUM’s University College’s provides academic advising through the Office of Central Advising. Advisors work with students to plan their coursework, choose classes, explore majors, and stay on track towards graduation. Advisors also connect students with campus resources and services that can help them succeed academically and make the most of their college experience.
AUM’s Exploratory major is designed for students who are undecided about their major or are still exploring their academic and career interests. Previously called the Undecided major, Exploratory gives students time and support to identify a major that fits their interests and goals.
Exploratory students work with academic advisors to choose courses that can fulfill requirements for majors they are considering. This allows students to explore different academic options while making progress toward their degree and avoiding unnecessary coursework.
AUM’s University Honors Program provides highly motivated and accomplished students with opportunities to deepen their academic experience and become part of an intellectually engaged community.
Students from any major can participate in the Honors Program without taking additional courses or paying additional fees. Benefits include innovative interdisciplinary courses, service opportunities, and recognition on transcripts and at graduation.
AUM Honors courses emphasize deeper learning rather than simply moving through material more quickly. Students explore subjects through discussion, collaboration, and innovative approaches to learning. Honors faculty are selected from among AUM’s most effective instructors and are encouraged to develop courses connected to their academic interests and expertise.
