Summer camp schedule highlights science, technology, art and communication

An instructor works with two young learners during one of Auburn University at Montgomery's computer science summer camps.

From coding and 3D modeling to the convergence of science and art, Auburn University at Montgomery will offer a wide range of summer learning opportunities for middle school and high school students.

AUM’s summer camp lineup includes the following:

  • A free STEAM Camp (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) July 7-25 that blends scientific inquiry with expressions of creativity. Supported by a grant from the Alabama State Department of Education, the camp is open to the first 70 7th-12th grade students from the following schools:
    • Bellingrath Middle School
    • Brewbaker Middle School

  • A free Video Game Storytelling and Character Development Camp May 30 and June 2-6 that enables students to develop a storyline for a video game inspired by a field trip to several River Region locations. Campers will use traditional drawing tools and Adobe Illustrator to create a main character for their game.
  • A free Digital Illustration Camp June 9-13 in which students will create work with Clip Studio Paint.
  • A “COMCOM” Computer Science & Communication Summer Academy that explores different aspects of computer science – coding, robotics and 3D modeling – each week and also offers opportunities to build confidence in speech and debate. The camp is $200 per week.
