The Certified Public Manager’s (CPM) Program teaches managers to lead, be sensitive, communicate like a leader, and above all make better decisions about the people they supervise or manage. This course was just what I needed to learn how to communicate better with those I supervise and to learn how to be a coach and mentor. I use the information learned in CPM regularly as reference to various situations. CPM taught me professional skills to handle and manage supervisory challenges.

CPM has helped me understand how to better relate to my employees and how to incorporate practices to promote team work in the group that I supervise. I feel that CPM has given me management tools that I will carry with me throughout the rest of my career.

As a new Director of the RSA-1 Deferred Compensation Program, I was able to improve my interpersonal communication skills through the CPM Program. As a result, this program enabled me to increase trust and develop a better team. For that, I am grateful!

CPM has been a career altering experience not simply because of the fundamental leadership tools you leave with, but also the relationships. I have made connections and friends across the state because of CPM with whom I can share experiences and exchange ideas. My sincere gratitude to the staff and CPM instructors.

I’m pleased to participate in the CPM course. I’ve been able to refresh my skills as a manager.  As a retired military member, previous leadership classes touch on some of the material in CPM. This course came at a time working at the state when my responsibilities were increasing. It is a timely refresher as well as opportunity for new areas of growth.  Also noted are the networking opportunities among peers. I’ve gained valuable insight on the job activities performed in other state agencies that rely on IT services provided by OIT. I encourage others to take advantage of the course.

I can honestly say the CPM program has impacted my career and my life as a whole in the best possible way. I have learned so many valuable management ideologies and skills that have helped me in my decision making, my ability to understand different personality types, and communication with my employees, my board members, and my family. I would strongly recommend the CPM program to all managers that really want to make a difference in their field of expertise.

The CPM program is excellent.  This program over the past two years has provided multiple opportunities and educational experiences like no other.  The wonderful staff, the awesome guest speakers, work sessions, various discussion topics and resources have all made me examine and challenge myself.  This program has helped and encouraged me to become a better person overall, which has made me a better supervisor.  I highly recommend this program to anyone who is prepared to do the work to improve yourself and your leadership qualities.
