The AUM OLLI staff decided that the best decision for the health and safety of our members for Winter 2021 is to offer only online or outdoor classes. We will reassess the situation early next year before our Spring term schedule is finalized.
To benefit OLLI members state-wide, Auburn University, the University of Alabama, and the University of Alabama – Huntsville have created OLLI SHARES, a collaborative initiative in which each of the three schools offers three courses that are open to OLLI members throughout Alabama!
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) Program is designed for adults age 50+ who are retired. We offer an impressive selection of classes that promote personal growth, health and wellness, educational enrichment, and new friendships. Classes are offered on an eight-week fall term, seven-week winter term, seven-week spring term, and four-week mini-summer term basis. Some topics covered include literature, history, crafts, dance, finance, nature, computer, and writing. Course styles vary from guest lecture series, class discussion, to instructor-led. Most classes are taught by OLLI members who volunteer their time and talents. OLLI courses are non-degree courses, and they require no homework, tests, or entrance exams. OLLI members participate for the sheer joy of learning.
(OLLI in-person benefits are temporarily on hold due to COVID.)
Join the conversation and check out our OLLI Member Facebook Group!
$40 – Annual Membership Dues (Required)
Grants members access to the membership benefits, bonus opportunities, classes, and “OLLI Shares” lunch presentations.
*$50 – Per Term of Classes
Grants members access to take the 7-8 week classes, as well as the Collaborative “OLLI Shares” classes.
*Since we made the decision to have our program be primarily online, we are calling this rate the “online special.” We are doing registration for only one term at a time until the COVID-19 situation changes.
Are you interested in teaching a course for OLLI at AUM? We are always looking for teachers/instructors for classes. Our OLLI Instructors are non-paid and volunteer their time to teach.
The benefit of teaching for OLLI is that instructors’ class term fees are waived if they take classes during a term that they are teaching. Not only do our instructors gain the benefit of free access to take classes; they enjoy teaching and making new friendships.
