Nicholas Bourke is an associate professor at Auburn University at Montgomery College of Education in the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Technology. He teaches science and math methods for elementary education majors at the undergraduate and graduate level along with supervising practicum and interns.
At the university, Nicholas is the Chapter Counselor for the Education Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi, and is heavily involved in creating meaningful clinical experiences for his students. His research interests include documenting impacts of nonformal education experiences and elementary environmental education. Nicholas was recently received the Distinguished Teaching Professor Award from Auburn University at Montgomery.
Recent professional presentations include Social media as an instructional tool to enhance communities of practice.
INTED2018, Valencia, Spain and Use appealing and accessible literature to deepen STEM aptitude at the National Science Teachers’ Association National Convention in Atlanta, GA. Nicholas serves as a manuscript and conference proposal reviewer for the North American Association of Environmental Education, Kappa Delta Pi, and Applied Environmental Education and Communication.
Before coming to Auburn University at Montgomery, Nicholas served as a classroom teacher for 22 years in a variety of settings including public and parochial schools. His teaching duties revolved mainly around science and math instruction with students ranging in age from 4th-9th grades.
