Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology — with a Concentration in Sport Management
In-Class

You don’t have to be an athlete to take part in the global sports industry, which some experts think is worth up to $620 billion and growing daily. Careers in sport management tend to be highly competitive, but the industry always has a place for capable, hard-working, results-oriented professionals.

If you are passionate about sport and are driven by the desire to create win-win results, there are many opportunities to be recognized in the sporting world. You might work with teams and players—from high school to the professional ranks—as well as fill a leadership role for athletic venues, sports marketing firms, university sports programs, sponsors and vendors, fitness centers, and other entities.

An AUM bachelor’s degree in Sport Management is a good place to start, with a combination of sport-related and business coursework designed to help you develop the knowledge and skills needed for entry-level jobs in the sports industry. Courses focus on areas such as:

  • Sport marketing
  • Coaching and officiating
  • Social media and technology
  • Sports ethics
  • Leadership
  • Facility planning, construction and management
  • Sales and promotion

Plus, you’ll develop skills in effective communication, teamwork, networking and other skills that sport business professionals need. An internship will give you real-world experience so your resume will shine even brighter when you enter the job market! The highly qualified faculty is recognized for their work on research and grants, being American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) fellows, and holding ACSM and NSCA-CSCS certifications.

In addition to the Exercise Science program, the College of Education’s Kinesiology department houses the Physical Education program and the Sport Management program.
