Physical Education, Exercise Science, and Sports Management involves educators working in tandem to lead, instruct and mentor groups of students. The Kinesiology Department within the AUM College of Education offers master’s degree programs with each of these areas. The traditional master’s program is for those who already hold a valid Alabama Class B Professional Educator Certificate.
An Alternative Master’s is also available for those who have not earned an undergraduate education degree or teacher certification.
The Education Specialist program uses a blend of technology and media to support candidates in a variety of learning environments.
Courses are enhanced with a technology focus on the latest evidence-based teaching and learning strategies as well as assist the candidate in developing his/her professional identity and professional practice as an educator.
The Physical Education Teacher Certification program prepares candidates to teach physical education in a P-12 setting. Candidates must meet AUM and Alabama Department of Education teacher certification requirements.

The dynamic and exciting Exercise Science master’s program is an educationally recognized program (ERP) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association for its outstanding curriculum leading to careers in athletic strength conditioning. The Kinesiology Department houses two state-of-the-art Human Performance Laboratories that feature house metabolic cart systems, body composition technology, an endless pool and electromyography to study muscle physiology first-hand. An internship is required.
