Why AUM?
AUM stands out for its supportive environment, diverse campus community, and commitment to student success. The university offers personalized academic advising, a range of student services, and opportunities for hands-on learning through internships and research. International students benefit from dedicated support staff who understand the unique challenges of studying abroad and are ready to assist with everything from visa questions to cultural adjustment.
When applying, international students can expect a transparent admissions process, which may include an interview or additional documentation requests after submitting their application, so they are well-prepared for each step.
Excellent Academics
With over 90 degree programs, AUM ranks among the top universities in the Southeastern U.S. by U.S. News and World Report. In addition to detailed academics, we prioritize practical learning from faculty members who have hands-on experience in their field. Undergraduate applicants to U.S. universities may need to submit standardized test scores such as the SAT or ACT as part of the application process, and the College Board provides access to these exams and related fee waivers. International applicants must also meet English proficiency requirements, as a strong knowledge of English—including the ability to understand and express thoughts quickly and clearly—is essential for academic success. Additionally, international transcripts may need to be evaluated by agencies such as World Education Services (WES) or Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) to ensure they are equivalent to U.S. standards. In the College of Business, for example, students learn from faculty members who were former managers of Fortune 500 companies, renowned economists, certified public accountants, researchers, and software developers. Students can also gain real-world experience by participating in internships at area companies.
Vibrant Campus Environment
Focusing on your classwork is important, but at AUM, students who attend can participate in a wide range of campus activities and events, allowing you to pursue your passions or find new ones. From concerts to student government to theatrical productions to seasonal events, there’s always something to do and ways to get involved. If you decide to live in one of our residence halls, you’ll be in the middle of all the cultural, social and sporting events that make AUM special. Over 60 clubs and organizations will help you dive into U.S. culture, enhance your resume, and build a network of lifelong friends.
Affordable Tuition and Fees
AUM’s tuition is much lower than many institutions in the U.S. Also, Auburn University at Montgomery offers a variety of international scholarships— up to $4,000 per year for qualified international students. Financial aid is available to international students, and some fees may be applicable depending on your individual circumstances. As part of the admissions and visa process, students must pay certain required fees, such as visa application and SEVIS fees. Please note that some students may be ineligible for specific scholarships or fee waivers based on their eligibility status.
