All Auburn University at Montgomery foreign national students and their dependents are required to participate in the AUM Student Health Insurance Plan. We remain committed to the health, welfare and safety of our international students. The AUM Group Health Insurance Plan is provided by United Healthcare Student Resources of St. Petersburg, Florida.
Students should always go to Warhawk Health Services on campus for a referral first, before going to a doctor. The nurses will tell the student if they need to go to a doctor. The International Student Handbook provides a list of on-campus emergency information, nearby clinics, and pharmacies. The Emergency Room (ER), such as Baptist East and Jackson Hospital, will cost a student more money.
It is necessary for all F1 students to look over their United Healthcare Student Plan before going to a doctor.

All billing concerns are made directly to United Healthcare by the student, this is due to The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) . For contact information, please call Customer Service at 1-800-767-0700 to speak to a representative of United Healthcare.
Waiver: Under certain exceptional circumstances, students and scholars or dependents may waive out of the mandatory requirements if they can show proof of insurance coverage that is EQUAL TO OR GREATER THAN the coverage provided by the AUM International Student and Scholar Health Insurance Plan. Students and scholars should be aware that waivers are rarely given. Policies purchased abroad do not typically meet the AUM mandatory requirements. U.S. Department of State minimum requirements are also not equivalent to the AUM insurance plan.
To obtain a waiver, the student must submit an International Insurance Waiver Form known as a waiver-form. This waiver must be completed and signed BY THE PROPOSED INSURANCE COMPANY which attests their coverage is equal to or greater than AUM’s insurance plan.
Once the proposed insurance company fully completes the waiver form, they must submit the waiver form to firstname.lastname@example.org by the deadline listed on the waiver form.
