AUM Homecoming 2025: A flight down memory lane

AUM Homecoming 2025 festivities kicked off this week, highlighting the university’s former retro blue with a series of fun-filled events, food giveaways, and Chancellor Cup competitions.

Scheduled activities for Wednesday include the Chancellor’s Cup Sports Relay, Meet the Homecoming Court, Lunch with Greek Life, and the Campus Activities Board Homecoming Dance. The remainder of the week includes:

  • Thursday’s Homecoming Court Voting, Chancellor’s Cup Gaming Tournament, Lunch sponsored by CAB and SGA, STEM Student Mixer, Putt Putt & Popcorn, and AUM Basketball Greek Night
  • Friday’s AUM Homecoming Pep Rally and the AUM Alumni Homecoming Celebration

The week will wrap up with tailgating and home basketball doubleheaders against Mississippi College on Saturday.

Show that you’re All-in 4 AUM

Homecoming Week marks the ideal time to show your support for AUM Athletics programs and student-athletes by participating in the All-in 4 AUM campaign.

Make a gift in support of your favorite team or designate one for the department’s greatest needs. The campaign will end on Saturday, Feb. 1.

Exploring innovative approaches to STEM education

AUM faculty members have an opportunity to learn about and discuss innovative approaches to STEM education during workshop made possible by a Howard Hughes Medical Institute grant.

The event will take place on Friday, Jan. 31.

Alo Basu, Associate Professor of Neuroscience in the Department of Psychology at the College of the Holy Cross, and Director of the HHMI Inclusive Excellence in STEM program there, will lead discussion based on theme of “Cultivating Inclusion in STEM: Imagining the Future.”

Breakfast will be served at 8:30 a.m. in Goodwyn Hall 109, with the program starting at 9. The session will explore barriers to inclusion embedded in the content and culture of the introductory STEM experience.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., including lunch, participants will engage in an interactive workshop, “Structuring Courses for Success,” in Room 1014 at the Science & Technology Complex.

Apply for Graduate Study Merit Scholarship

Current AUM graduate students who have completed at least six credit hours and maintained a GPA of 3.4 or better may be eligible for the 2025-2026 Graduate Study Merit Scholarship offered by the AUM Alumni Association.

To be considered, students must submit the following to [email protected] by the March 14 deadline:

  • Two letters of support (preferably from AUM faculty or staff), emphasizing leadership skills
  • A 250-word essay outlining educational and career objectives, academic honors/awards/civic activities, and how the scholarship will help you achieve your goals
  • Current resume listing employment, dates of employment, hours worked, campus and/or community leadership and academic achievements
  • A completed AUM Alumni Association Graduate Study Merit Scholarship application.
