- 8 A.M. | Homecoming Court Campaigning Begins | Campus Wide
- 8 A.M. (Through Thursday @ 5 PM) | Chancellor’s Cup #1: Penny Wars for Charity Begins | Resource Center
Each team will be given a bucket for penny wars. A bucket will be kept at the Resource Center in Taylor Center to keep the game fair. Your team may stand by the Resource Center to promote your bucket. Penny Wars will start Monday, January 27th, at 8:00 am and finish Thursday, January 30th, at 5:00 pm. Buckets will go out at 8:00 am Monday-Thursday and be put up at 5:00 pm. - 10 A.M. – Noon | Chancellor’s Cup #2: Scavenger Hunt | Quad
Scavenger Hunt: Each time will compete in a campus scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt will be clue-based. Each clue will lead you to the next hunt. Teams can have up to 6 people allowed and must stay together for the entire time of the hunt. Winners will be determined by who completes the scavenger hunt in the shortest time. Homecoming Nomination
There will be one round of interviews. During these interviews, a judging panel will rank their choices for the Homecoming Court.
- Interviews are scheduled for January 26-27, 2024.
- The interviews will be held virtually through Zoom.
- Each interview will last approximately 10 minutes.
- Judges will be allotted time in between interviews for discussion.
- Candidates should arrive at least 10 minutes before their interview.
- Candidates need to wear business attire.
Interview question may pertain to the following topics or be of the following nature:
- Information regarding Auburn University at Montgomery
- Career goals and future plans
- Personal convictions and beliefs
- Insight from past experiences
- Leadership experiences at Auburn University at Montgomery
- The panel of judges will take turns asking each candidate questions during the interview.
- The same questions may or may not be asked in each interview.
- Be yourself and remain confident.
- Judges will score based on personality, appearance, poise, confidence, communication skills, leadership qualities, and overall Warhawk Pride.
- Candidates may distribute flyers throughout the AUM Campus so long as they follow the university’s sign policies.
- Candidates may paint car windows and place magnets on cars. The owners of the car must agree to have these forms of campaign materials placed on their vehicle. No campaign materials should obstruct the drivers’ vision.
- Candidates may use sidewalk chalk (NO spray chalk) but CANNOT put chalk on any brick surfaces or buildings.
- Candidates may make appointments with student organizations to speak with voters. Candidates may not distribute any items other than those listed in #5-8.
- Candidates may use social media networks, such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc., to campaign. Facebook flyers and similar advertisements are permitted.
- Candidates may post up to forty (40) campaign signs that are the size of a standard 8.5 by 11-inch sheet of paper or smaller.
- Candidates may post up to twenty (20) posters, no larger than 11 by 18 inches.
- Candidates may print stickers to distribute.
- Candidates must remove all campaign materials within 24 hours after the election polls close. Failure to do so will result in disqualification or other appropriate action determined by the Homecoming Committee Chair and SGA Chief Justice.
- The destruction of campaign materials prior to or on election day is strictly prohibited. Violators will be reprimanded at the discretion of the Homecoming Committee Chair and SGA Chief Justice.
- Falsifying information or submitting incorrect information on a candidate’s application, such as grades, signicatures, and classification, is prohibited. Any violation will be punished at the discretion of the Homecoming Committee Chair and SGA Chief Justice. The candidate who submitted the falsified application will be deemed ineligible.
- Any AUM student has the right to report campaign and/or election violations to the SGA Homecoming Committee Chair. Violations must be reported within 24 hours of the time the violation occurred. Complaint forms are available in the SGA Office and on the AUM Homecoming webpage.
- Any slanderous or libelous action must be reported to the SGA Homecoming Committee Chair immediately; these actions will not be tolerated. If such actions occur, the Homecoming Committee will hold a hearing to investigate the situation. The issue may be submitted to the Student Affairs Office for further disciplinary action.
- The SGA homecoming Committee Chair and Chiefg Justice reserve the right to investigate any candidate and campaign conduct at any time for any reason.
- The SGA Homecoming Chair Chief Justice reserves the right to issue reprimands for any conduct deemed unethical or contrary to the ideals of Auburn University at Montgomery.
Homecoming nominations are due to the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs (located in Taylor Center 155) by noon on Wednesday, January 31. All applicants must be nominated by an approved student club or organization, AUM athletic team, residence hall, or an AUM college/department. The positions available include 2 representatives for Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors and Homecoming King and Queen (Seniors only). Those who are nominated and approved by the Homecoming Committee will be notified via email by February 1, 2024. Candidates who are approved to campaign during Homecoming Week must attend a mandatory Homecoming Court orientation on Friday, February 2, 2024, in 10 AM in Warhawk Alley. After this meeting, each candidate will have their headshot picture taken for the Homecoming webpage. These pictures will also be included on the online ballot for elections. Homecoming court elections will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024, via MyAUM. Winners will be announced Saturday, February 10 during the Homecoming basketball games.
