Commencement for graduates of the Colleges of Education, Liberal Arts & Social Sciences and Nursing & Health Sciences will begin at 10 a.m., with the Colleges of Business and Sciences to follow at 2 p.m. AUM will welcome Dr. Rick Bright, CEO of the Pandemic Prevention Institute at The Rockefeller Foundation, as its commencement speaker. Bright earned a degree in biology and physical sciences from AUM in 1997. In his present role, he leads the development of the Rockefeller Foundation’s pandemic data-to-action platform that integrates technology, analytics and global partners to help detect, prevent, and mitigate pandemic threats. Back to the top Softball repeats as regular season GSC champs AUM’s fourth-ranked softball team won the Gulf South Conference regular season championship for the second consecutive season and enters the league tournament as the top seed. The Warhawks (38-8, 25-5 GSC) will open the tournament Wednesday night at 6 against eighth-seeded Union. The tournament site is Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama. AUM will attempt to defend its 2021 tournament championship. The softball team isn’t the only AUM squad with postseason plans. The baseball team (30-19, 18-12 conference) will open the GSC tournament Friday at 4 p.m. against fifth-seeded Lee University. The GSC baseball tournament is also being played at Choccolocco Park. The men’s and women’s tennis teams will learn their postseason fate tonight during the NCAA tournament selection show. The 18th-ranked women’s team reached the finals of the GSC tournament last week before losing to top-seeded West Alabama. Follow your favorite team in the AUM Athletics Newsroom. Training focuses on increasing awareness of the backgrounds and needs of our military affiliated students.
