Women’s basketball team caps off memorable season

While AUM’s women’s basketball team fell just short of earning its first berth in NCAA Division II regional play, the Warhawks achieved several milestones during a 20-win season.

In addition to earning their best record as an NCAA Division II member (20-10 overall, 17-7 in Gulf South Conference), the Warhawks reached the semifinals of the GSC Tournament before falling to top-seeded Valdosta State. Freshman guard Grace O’Gara earned all-tournament honors after averaging 22.5 points in two games.

AUM, which rose to No. 7 in the NCAA South Region rankings, made the most of its first opportunity to host a GSC Tournament game, beating West Florida 74-70 before a lively home crowd. AUM also placed a player on the All-GSC first team for the first time. Junior guard Allasha Dudley averaged 17.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game this season.
