Working Together

Collaborative Partners

The Office of Collaborative Partnership and Distance Education creates partnerships between AUM and both international and domestic universities and colleges.

Dual enrollment partnerships with schools districts, independent high schools, and homeschool umbrellas across Alabama provide junior and senior-level students to complete college-level courses for both college and high school credit, saving time and money toward an undergraduate degree.

Partnerships with community colleges allow for students to successfully articulate their credit hours from community colleges to Auburn University at Montgomery and matriculate with a Bachelor’s degree in the shortest period of time.

Agreements with international universities include faculty and student exchanges and/or articulation pathways to allow international students to earn an American bachelor’s or master’s degree.

Auburn University at Montgomery supports the statewide initiative Alabama Transfers (Statewide Transfer & Articulation Reporting – Formerly STARS), established in 1994 by Articulation and General Studies Committee (AGSC) and recently adopted by Complete College America (CCA).

Five Guiding Principles Established by AGSC

  • Permit flexibility to institutions to offer specific courses that will enable students to fulfill their general studies requirements.
  • Avoid increasing credit hour requirements for completion of baccalaureate degrees by institutions.
  • Develop the credit hour distribution requirements rather than specific course requirements.
  • Achieve a balance between general studies requirements and pre-professional or pre-major studies.
  • Faculty committees will be responsible for course/template specifications, review, and approval/ratification.

All public institutions of higher education who receive state funding must adhere to the statewide transfer policy set forth by the AGSC.
