The mission of the Auburn Montgomery at University Chorus is to provide an opportunity for singers to continue their involvement in performing. The group is open to all men and women who like to sing. There is no audition. AUM students may enroll in MUSI 2202 University Chorus for one hour of credit, or they may simply come sing as a volunteer. While geared primarily to AUM students, membership in the ensemble includes faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the university as well.

The literature we perform is quite broad in its scope: classical, folk songs, spirituals, Broadway show tunes, and other popular styles are all included. The Chorus presents one concert at the end of each semester.

The AUM Chorus is a very collegial group and many friendships have been forged as a result of membership in the ensemble. If singing is an important part of your life, please consider making the University Chorus a part of your college experience.

AUMcappella is an all-female, a cappella group that performs popular music It is not offered as a class, and you must audition to participate. The rehearsal time (once a week for most of the semester) will be determined in the first week of classes. Typically, this group performs at Fall Convocation, a few AUM basketball games, Martin Luther King Memorial Breakfast, Faculty/Staff Holiday Luncheon, the Athletics Department Awards Banquet, an occasional Montgomery Biscuits baseball game, and the end-of-semester concert.

Auditions & Scholarship Opportunities
Singers admitted to the group are eligible for a $500 scholarship each semester they are a member. The audition includes the appropriate voice part for AUMcappella’s arrangement of the Star-Spangled Banner, and 32 bars of any other song the auditioner believes shows the best qualities of their voice.

The AUM “Spirit Band” was formed in Fall 2019 and is the first band on the AUM campus in over 30 years. We are just getting started and would love to have others join the group. This band is primarily an athletic pep band. During the 2019-20 academic year, the band played at both volleyball and basketball home games.

Auditions & Scholarship Opportunities
Membership in the band is by audition only. The audition will consist of the appropriate part for the AUM Fight Song, scales from two sharps to three flats, and a brief sight-reading excerpt. Admission to the group will depend both on the quality of the audition, and the needs of the band. Players admitted to the band are eligible for a $500 scholarship each semester they are a member.
