Music at AUM
There are many ways to enrich your life with music at AUM. Singers can join the AUM Chorus or AUMcappella, while instrumentalists may audition for the newly formed Spirit Band. Scholarships are available to those who audition successfully for AUMcappella and the Spirit Band. The Promenade Concerts provide opportunities to hear performances by visiting artists. Students can also earn a minor in music.
AUM Ensembles
Music Minor Program of Study
The Music minor at AUM is a flexible program in which students can combine musical performance courses and academic courses in many different ways. There is one required course in which students are introduced to the notation and theory of Western music. The remaining nine credits may be earned in any course with a MUSI designation. The Spirit Band and the AUM Chorus may be taken as one-credit-hour classes and may be repeated for credit.
The Promenade Concerts
The Promenade Concerts at AUM are Auburn University at Montgomery’s artist and concert series. The concerts have been presented free to the public in AUM’s Goodwyn Auditorium since 1990. The series has featured such distinguished ensembles as the Baltimore Consort and the Ahn Trio, as well as various soloists. The series is managed by Dr. Mark Benson, Associate Professor of Music.
