Heads up, Warhawks: AUM’s parking rules are in full effect
Parking enforcement is now in full effect on campus. Vehicles parked on campus must be properly registered and display the appropriate parking decal or hangtag. Vehicles that are not properly registered are subject to parking tickets.
Students, faculty and staff who have not yet registered their vehicles for the 2026-27 academic year should complete their online vehicle registration as soon as possible.
Decals and hangtags are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Campus Police Office in Taylor Center 267. Those registering an AUM license plate should bring a copy of their tag receipt.

AUM alumna to discuss election administration on Constitution Day
Auburn University at Montgomery will observe Constitution Day on Thursday, Sept. 17, with a presentation examining the work that takes place behind the scenes to administer elections.
Alexandria Stephens, director of elections for the Montgomery County Election Center in the Office of Probate Judge J.C. Love III, will present “Behind the Scenes: Election Administration” from 1 to 2 p.m. in Goodwyn Hall 111. Her talk will provide an opportunity for the AUM community to learn more about election administration and the processes involved in helping eligible voters cast their ballots.
Stephens brings a unique connection to AUM and to election administration. Originally from Camden, Alabama, she earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from AUM in 2009 and a Master of Public Administration, with a concentration in nonprofit management and leadership, in 2012. She later earned a master’s degree in human resource management from Troy University in 2024.
Stephens began her career in election administration as an undergraduate intern at the Montgomery County Election Center. After completing graduate school, she served as elections coordinator for Jefferson County, Alabama, before moving to Columbia, South Carolina, where she served as director of voter registration and elections for Richland County.
In 2022, Stephens returned to Montgomery as director of elections for Montgomery County — the same office where she began her career as an AUM undergraduate intern. Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to ensuring that every eligible voter in Montgomery County can cast a ballot securely and successfully.
Stephens is a member of the National Association of Election Officials, commonly known as The Election Center. In 2017, she earned the organization’s Certified Elections/Registration Administrator (CERA) certification.
Constitution Day is observed annually to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787. The day also recognizes all individuals who are U.S. citizens — either by birth or through naturalization.
Connect with community partners at AUM’s Service-Learning Expo
AUM’s Experiential Education and Engagement Center (EEEC) invites students, faculty and staff to attend the annual Service-Learning Expo from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, in the Goodwyn Hall Lobby.
The expo brings local nonprofits and community organizations together with members of the AUM community who are looking for ways to serve the River Region. Attendees can discover potential community partners for service-learning courses, connect students with hands-on experiences that complement classroom learning or find a cause to support personally.
Last year, 72% of student attendees found a volunteer opportunity as a direct result of the expo, while faculty members used the event to establish community partnerships for their courses.
Participating organizations will have tables featuring information about their missions and ways to get involved, along with flyers and other resources.
Faculty members are encouraged to bring their classes or invite students to attend as part of a course activity.
Theatre AUM brings Revolutionary-era playwright to life
Theatre AUM will open the Fall 2026 season with “The Mercy Project: A Showcase Honoring Playwright Mercy Otis Warren,” which celebrates the life, writings and legacy of the American Revolution playwright and political satirist.
Performances will be held Oct. 1-3 and Oct. 8-10 at 7:30 p.m., with a final performance at 2 p.m. Oct. 11 in the Taylor Center Theatre.
Directed by Distinguished Research Professor Val Winkelman, the production features a student cast exploring Warren’s contributions to American history, politics, and theatre.
Born in 1728 in Barnstable, Massachusetts, Warren was a published poet and historian during the American Revolution. At the time when women were largely expected to remain silent on political matters, Warren became an outspoken commentator and one of the leading female intellectuals of the Revolution and early American republic. Through her writing and political commentary, Warren left an enduring mark on the nation’s revolutionary history.
Theatre AUM tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for seniors. Admission is free for AUM students, faculty, staff, alumni, military, and OLLI members with a valid ID.
Recognize an outstanding AUM faculty member
The AUM Alumni Association’s Faculty Service Award recognizes an outstanding faculty member for their excellence in teaching, service to the AUM community and commitment to student success.
Awarded by the AUM Alumni Association, the Faculty Service Award is presented to one faculty member during Fall Convocation. The recipient receives a $1,000 award.
Nominations from faculty, staff, students, and friends are encouraged and accepted. Beginning this year, nominations will only be accepted through the online nomination form. Each nominee also must have a letter of support submitted by their department chair and/or dean.
