Business Breakfast offers glimpse of changes coming to state parks

Chancellor's Business Breakfast Series flyer.With more than $150 million available to support upgrades, repairs and new construction, Alabama’s State Park System is in the middle of major changes that could inspire even more residents and out-of-state guests to explore and enjoy facilities.

State Parks Director Greg Lein will discuss the potential impact of the ongoing improvements to Alabama’s 21 state parks during Wednesday’s AUM Chancellor’s Business Breakfast Series event.

The free event will begin at at 7:30 a.m. in Taylor Center 230, but seating is limited and registration is required.

Volleyball hosts Warhawk Invitational

After traveling the past two weeks, the AUM volleyball will finally get to play at home when it hosts the four-team Warhawk Invitational Friday and Saturday at the AUM Athletics Complex.

The Warhawks (3-3) will open play Friday at 9 a.m. against Palm Beach Atlantic. Shorter and Arkansas Tech will play at 11:30 a.m., followed by Shorter and Palm Beach Atlantic at 3 p.m., before the Warhawks close the opening day of play at 5:30 p.m. against Arkansas Tech.

On Saturday, Palm Beach Atlantic and Arkansas Tech will open play at 9 a.m., followed by Shorter and Palm Beach Atlantic at 11:30 a.m. AUM will close out the tournament against Shorter at 3 p.m.

In other AUM athletics action:

Men’s Soccer: Fresh off earning a No. 6 national ranking, the Warhawks carry a 2-0-1 record into the week after a 1-1 tie against Clayton State. AUM will travel to Carson-Newman on Thursday before visiting Lander on Saturday..

Women’s Soccer: AUM surged past Edward Waters 4-2 last week to improve to 2-1. The Warhawks will open Gulf South Conference play Wednesday at Montevallo.

Cross Country: The AUM men and women each competed at the Southern Showcase hosted by Jacksonville State in Huntsville. AUM’s men finished 22nd overall, the fifth-best finish among NCAA Division II teams at the meet. The AUM women also finished fifth among Division II peers.

Advising Kickoff offers opportunity to plan for spring

Take Curtiss the Warhawk’s word for it: When it comes to staying on track for graduation, Warhawks will be far better off if they don’t try to fly solo.

Nurse gives a vaccine.Warhawk Health Services recently began offering flu vaccinations for students, employees and dependents 6 months and older.

There is no charge for individuals with Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. The cost for other insurance plans or uninsured individuals is $25.

No appointment is necessary. Visit Warhawk Health Services in Moore Hall during clinic hours – 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
