New Student Convocation caps off successful first week of classes
Auburn University at Montgomery officially welcomed its newest students into the Warhawk Nation during New Student Convocation on Aug. 21. The annual ceremony marked the beginning of their college journey and introduced them to the faculty, staff and campus resources that will support their success.
Students heard words of encouragement from Chancellor Carl A. Stockton, Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor Mrinal Varma, faculty speaker Gil Duenas and Student Government Association President Tyreanna Causey. The celebration also included the presentation of Warhawk pins, the AUM fight song and a performance by the Jammin’ Warhawks faculty and staff band.
Causey encouraged new students to step outside their comfort zones, ask questions, attend campus events and take advantage of opportunities to form meaningful connections.
“Here, you can be a big fish in a small fishbowl. You just have to take the initiative and dive in,” she said.
Becoming involved at AUM helped her grow from a student who planned to simply attend class and go home into a campus leader, Causey said. She reminded students that AUM offers many opportunities to discover their strengths, build confidence and develop as leaders.
AUM’s MHA program earns prestigious accreditation
AUM’s Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program has earned initial accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME), the leading accrediting organization for graduate healthcare management education programs.
The four-year accreditation from CAHME recognizes the quality, rigor and industry relevance of AUM’s fully online MHA program, which prepares working professionals to lead healthcare organizations and navigate an evolving healthcare landscape.
Offered through AUM’s College of Business, the MHA program features coursework in healthcare economics, policy, leadership, quality improvement, patient safety and healthcare information systems.
Explore BRE-SPAD biomedical research opportunities
The AUM College of Sciences, in partnership with the National Institutes of Health, will host four information sessions on fall Biomedical Research Excellence – Seed Program for Advancement and Discovery (BRE-SPAD) opportunities.
The faculty sessions will be offered at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., while student sessions will be offered at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The 30-minute sessions will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 26, in Goodwyn Hall 112 and will cover eligibility, timelines and application requirements.
Faculty sessions: Faculty can learn about opportunities to receive up to $20,000 in funding for biomedical research pilot projects and up to $5,000 for bridge grant projects.
Student sessions: Graduate and undergraduate students can learn how to apply for paid biomedical research training opportunities, including eligibility and application requirements.

AUM Athletics has launched its fifth annual All-In for AUM fundraising campaign and there’s still time to show your support. The week-long campaign runs through Sunday, Aug. 30.
Your support helps elevate the student-athlete experience, from team travel and nutritious meals that fuel performance and recovery to upgraded athletic facilities and leadership and personal development opportunities that prepare Warhawks for success on and off the field.

AUM Athletics launches new ticketing platform
AUM Athletics and Vivenu have teamed up to launch a new ticketing platform that gives fans a streamlined way to purchase and manage tickets for home athletic events.
Students, faculty and staff receive free admission to AUM athletic events using their AUM ID. Children 12 and under receive free admission, and AUM faculty and staff members can also purchase additional tickets for family members for $8 each.
Don’t forget your parking decal!
Faculty and staff are reminded to register their vehicles for the 2026-27 academic year through AUM’s online parking portal. To register, you will need your license plate number, vehicle year, make, model and color, home address and cellphone number.
Campus parking permits are available for pickup at the Campus Police Office in Taylor Center 267. AUM license plate holders should bring a copy of their tag receipt.

Get involved with AUM intramural sports
Play, connect, and compete with AUM Intramurals this semester.
Participate in billiards, esports, 3-on-3 basketball, badminton, pingpong, volleyball, water polo, disc golf, and flag football.
Depending on the sport, games will take place in Warhawk Alley, the Wellness Center, the disc golf courseand the intramural field.
