Understand federal student aid changes for 2026-27
As students prepare for the upcoming semester, new federal legislation tied to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) (H.R.1) may change how some students receive federal financial aid and student loans.
AUM wants to ensure students have the support and resources needed to navigate financial planning under the new guidelines tied to the OBBBA. Updates may affect loan limits and aid amounts based on enrollment and eligibility requirements for the 2026-27 academic year.
AUM Financial Aid has reserved open times for come-and-go meetings with individuals. The first meeting takes place on Aug. 17 in Clement Hall 111 from 9:00 a.m. to 11 a.m., while the second meeting takes place on Aug. 19 in Clement Hall 111 from 1:00 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The Financial Aid Office has developed a comprehensive online guide to help students understand the changes and how they may affect their academic and financial plans. Make your move to campus a smooth one
Move-in week is here for new and returning Warhawks. AUM Student Housing Move-In will take place Aug. 12-15, and preparing before you arrive can help you get settled more quickly.
Log in to the MyAUM Housing portal to complete your housing forms and reserve a move-in time. Before you’re all packed up, review the What to Bring and What Not to Bring guide and Housing Community Standards.
A few reminders for move-in day:
- Bring your Warhawk ID/driver’s license to check in, receive your key and borrow a dolly.
- Follow signs to the designated unloading area for your residence hall.
- Decorate your room for a chance to earn bragging rights in the AUM Cribs contest.

Campus parking decal pickup begins today
Parking decal pickup begins today, Aug. 11, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Taylor Center Lobby.
Students, faculty and staff can register their vehicles for the 2026-27 academic year through AUM’s online parking portal. To register, you will need your license plate number, vehicle year, make, model and color, home address and cellphone number.
Once your vehicle information has been entered, and you have reached the pending status, you may come to one of the locations listed below on the dates listed, where your vehicle registration will be approved, and pick up your decal. Please be prepared to pay for your parking decal at that time in the online parking registration system by credit card. Decals/Parking Permits will be issued ONLY after payment has been made.
Decals may be picked up in the Taylor Center Lobby from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 11, 12, 14, 17, 19 or 20. Beginning Aug. 21, decals and hangtags will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Campus Police Office in Taylor Center 267. AUM license plate holders should bring a copy of their tag receipt.
Permit options include:
- Nonresidential student permits: $30
- Residential permits for housing lots: No additional charge
- Housing/General permits for residential students: $30
- Faculty and staff general permits for white-lined spaces: No charge
- Faculty and staff reserved permits for orange-lined spaces: $75
- Student general permits with an AUM license plate: No charge
Faculty and staff registering an AUM license plate for the first time will receive a reserved decal and hangtag at no charge. Returning AUM license plate holders will pay a $5 administrative fee.

New cloud-based system debuts for AUM Library
The AUM Library has upgraded to a new library management system that changes how students, faculty and staff search for books and other library materials.
The update, which went live on Aug. 7, improves how library materials are managed, cataloged and checked out while making it easier to search for library resources.
A new search interface welcomes visitors to the site, replacing the old online catalog. Users will still be able to find all the library’s books and other resources, but with a different layout, tweaked search results and new-look navigation.
The system now operates on OCLC’s cloud-based WorldShare Management Services (WMS).

Start your AUM journey with orientation
Incoming students and their families can prepare for their first semester by attending New Student Orientation. Orientation sessions help students register for classes, connect with campus resources, meet fellow Warhawks and prepare for a successful start to the semester.
The final fall orientation session will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, Aug. 14 on campus.

Get ahead and register for math placement tests
AUM’s free math placement program can help students save time and tuition costs. Students can take the next math placement tests on Thursday, Aug. 13 at 2 p.m. in the ISL Goodwyn Hall 202.
