Ready, set, hike in AUM’s new flag football course

Looking for a fun way to stay active, meet new people and add a little competition to your schedule? AUM’s Department of Kinesiology is offering new course PHED 1302: Flag Football during Term D, the second half of the Fall 2026 semester.

Running Oct. 7 through Dec. 1, the course introduces students to the fundamentals of flag football while promoting fitness, teamwork and sportsmanship. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or have never thrown a football, you’ll learn key skills such as passing, catching, route running, flag pulling, offensive and defensive formations, and game strategy.

The class will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 to 3:15 p.m. and emphasizes hands-on learning through skill drills, small-sided games and full-field scrimmages, giving students plenty of opportunities to put their skills into action.

The next orientation session will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, June 26 on campus with additional sessions set for July 10, 17, 25 and 31; and Aug. 7 and 14.

AUM AI camp brings emerging tech to the next generation

Middle school student creates 3D model in computer lab using Blender and pixel art references during AUM's animation summer camp.Auburn University at Montgomery’s College of Sciences is expanding access to artificial intelligence through summer camps that provide middle and high school students with hands-on learning experiences in AI and emerging technologies.

A 3D Modeling & AI Animation Camp will take place July 6-10 in Clement Hall Room 108. Participants will explore 3D modeling, animation and AI-powered creative tools while developing their own digital projects.

The camp is free to attend and will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Participants will conclude the camp by earning a National Science Foundation (NSF) certification. Students should bring their own lunch, with a lunch break scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. each day.

The camp is supported by an NSF grant that is helping AUM expand AI education, research and workforce development initiatives across the university and throughout the community.

AUM’s 2026 Summer Data Analytics Certificate Program helps students, professionals, and practitioners build high-impact skills in data science, statistical learning, statistical modeling and data-driven decision making.

In this three day, six-module course, participants will gain practical tools to analyze, interpret, and leverage data across industries such as business, healthcare, academia, and public policy.
