Warhawk Weekly 11-21: Giving Tuesday; Commencement ceremonies
Giving Tuesday offers opportunities to support university, community
Giving Tuesday, a global generosity movement focused on transforming communities, will fall on Tuesday, Nov. 28.
Auburn University at Montgomery students, employees and alumni have an opportunity to make a difference in the River Region community – and create opportunities for current and future AUM students – in a variety of ways:
- 12’s Day of Giving: AUM is sponsoring WSFA-TV’s annual food and toy drive benefitting Toys for Tots, Heart of Alabama Food Bank and Hands On River Region’s Christmas Clearinghouse. Volunteers will collect donations of food, toys and money on Friday, Dec. 1, from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Renfroe’s Market on Eastchase Parkway.
- Giving to AUM: Support scholarship opportunities for AUM students, specific colleges and academic programs and other university initiatives by making a tax-deductible gift to AUM.
- River Region United Way: AUM’s employee campaign for River Region United Way will end on Friday, Dec. 8. Employees can return printed pledge forms to Paige Hines in Library 211 or make a gift onlineby visiting the River Region United Way website. Remember to designate Auburn University at Montgomery as your employer when making a gift.
- Mercy House: Mercy House and Ministry About People (MAP) are challenging students from area colleges to participate in a Giving Tuesday competition. Mercy House and MAP provide hot meals, housing assistance, educational resources and other services to young people in West Montgomery. The Giving Tuesday competition will end November 29. When making a gift, choose the “Auburn University Montgomery Social Media Competition” menu option.
