The Federal Pell Grant is a federally-funded grant awarded on the basis of financial need. The Federal Pell Grant is awarded to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor’s or a professional degree. The amount of Pell Grant awarded can change from year-to-year, and is contingent on the following:
Your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) determined by the FAFSA results.
Your financial need.
Your plans to attend school for a full academic year or less.
Your status as a full-time or part-time student. The Pell Grant is awarded based on full-time enrollment (12 or greater undergraduate hours), and is prorated based on enrollment for less than full-time enrollment. Pell Grant funds may not be received for more than the equivalent of six full-time academic years.
Eligibility
You must complete the FAFSA.
You must have a qualifying Expected Family Contribution (EFC) as determined by your FAFSA.
You must meet all other financial aid eligibility requirements.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
The Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) is a federally-funded grant awarded based on exceptional need and availability of funds. Funding for the FSEOG is limited each year, therefore, not all eligible aid applicants can be offered an award from the program. Priority consideration during the initial awarding period is given to students that complete the FAFSA by the March 1st priority date.
You must meet all other financial aid eligibility requirements.
You must be enrolled at least half-time (6 undergraduate hours)
Alabama Student Assistance Program (ASAP)
The Alabama Student Assistance Program (ASAP) Grant is a state funded grant awarded based on exceptional need and availability of funds. Funding for the ASAP Grant is limited each year, therefore, not all eligible aid applicants can be offered an award from the program. Priority consideration during the initial awarding period is given to students that complete the FAFSA by the March 1 priority date.
You must meet all other financial aid eligibility requirements.
You must be enrolled at least half-time (6 undergraduate hours)
Federal TEACH Grant
The TEACH Grant Program provides grants of up to $4,000 a year to students who are completing or plan to complete course work needed to begin a career in teaching.
As a condition for receiving a TEACH Grant, you must sign a TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve in which you agree to (among other requirements) teach:
in a high-need field
at an elementary school, secondary school, or educational service agency that serves students from low-income families
for at least four complete academic years within eight years after completing (or ceasing enrollment in) the course of study for which you received the grant.
