You may be interested in working in the world of business because it’s a very broad profession, and being a business professional allows you to accomplish many things: to express yourself through a new product or enterprise, to work toward financial independence, to help others, to travel the world, or a combination of these accomplishments.

Are you  leaning toward a degree in business but want to explore different fields before choosing a specialization? Are you working full-time and need the convenience of online courses? The General Business concentration in the Business Administration degree program is a great choice for students who want flexibility in how they earn a degree, and is the only College of Business major that may be completed online. Many students start their college journey as General Business majors and change to a business specialization that matches their career goals. Other students choose General Business to accommodate their work/family schedule or because they like the idea of developing a wide spectrum of business knowledge and skills.

Students whose intended career paths include working with global companies and who are able to complete courses in an on-campus learning environment may choose the International Business option of the General Business major. This option combines training in marketing and management with an appreciation for cultural differences that affect business relations in the global marketplace.

We know that you want to feel confident about future job prospects. With the General Business concentration and some hands-on job training through internships, you’ll have an opportunity to pursue careers in marketing, sales, human resources, finance, and operations. In fact, General Business was the second most popular business major, according to a 2019 study by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
