Everything to know about campus move-in
The countdown is on to Student Housing Move-In for new and returning Warhawks, marking the start of another year of learning, friendships and campus traditions.
Move-in takes place Aug. 12-15, so whether you’re moving into campus housing for the first time or returning for another year, a little planning can make move-in much smoother.
Before arriving, review AUM’s What to Bring and What Not to Bring guide and your residence hall’s Community Standards to make sure you’re ready for your home away from home.
Check out these move-in tips to help you get settled:
Pack like a pro
- Coordinate with your roommate. Decide who is bringing shared items like a TV, rug, trash can or shower curtain before you shop.
- Label everything. Mark boxes by room or category to make unpacking easier, and don’t forget semester essentials like storage bins and cleaning supplies.
- Plan your space. Think about how you’ll arrange and decorate your room before you arrive. You might even earn bragging rights in this year’s AUM Cribs room decorating contest!
Move-in day must-knows
- Bring your photo ID. You’ll need your Warhawk ID or driver’s license to check in, pick up your room key and borrow a dolly.
- Head to the right unloading area. Each residence hall has designated unloading locations, so be sure to follow posted directions to help keep traffic moving.
- The Courtyards: Unload near your assigned building.
- P-40 Place: Use the P-40 parking lot.
- Warhawk Hall: Use the Warhawk Hall/Commons parking lot or 30-minute parking for quick unloading.
- The Commons: Use the designated Commons parking lots.
- Reserve your move-in time. Complete your housing forms and schedule your arrival through the MyAUM Housing portal before move-in day to reduce wait times.
The fall semester begins with the first day of classes on Monday, Aug. 17. Be sure to check out the Fall 2026 Academic Calendar for important dates throughout the semester, including holidays, midterms and commencement.
AUM, Town of Pike Road team up for customer service training initiative
Auburn University at Montgomery’s Office of Continuing Education and Community Engagement is partnering with the Town of Pike Road to launch a training program designed to help local businesses strengthen customer service and create positive customer experiences.
The Blue Ribbon Customer Service Program will offer practical training focused on developing consistent service values, skills and standards. The inaugural class, expected to begin this fall, will include two half-day sessions covering eight best practices for exemplary customer service. Participating businesses also may be eligible for recognition through the Blue Ribbon Customer Service Awards.
The program represents the third phase of Pike Road IGNITE, the town’s economic development initiative supporting local business growth. AUM Continuing Education Director Neal Kelley introduced the program during the Pike Road Business Association’s July 28 Lunch & Learn. Campus parking registration is now open
Parking registration for the 2026-27 academic year is now open. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to register their vehicles through AUM’s online parking portal before arriving on campus for the fall semester.
To complete your vehicle registration online, you will need the following information:
- Tag/license plate number
- Vehicle year, make, model and color
- Home address and cell phone number
After completing the online registration and reaching “pending” status, registrants may pay by credit/debit card through the parking portal and pick up their decals in the Taylor Center lobby from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 11, 12, 14, 17, 19 or 20. Beginning Aug. 21, decals and hangtags will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Campus Police Office in Taylor Center 267. Those registering an AUM license plate should bring a copy of their tag receipt.
Non-Residential student parking permits cost $30 for the academic year. Residential parking permits are included at no additional charge but are restricted to residential lots. Residential students may purchase a Housing/General permit for $30 to park in general campus lots. Students with an AUM license plate will receive a general parking permit at no charge. Any student who purchases an AUM license plate will receive their General Parking Permit for free.
Faculty and staff general permits allow parking in white-lined spaces. Reserved permits for orange-lined spaces cost $75 per academic year. Faculty and staff re-registering an AUM license plate will pay a $5 administrative fee, while first-time AUM license plate registrants will receive a reserved decal and hangtag at no charge.

AUM student-athletes serve the community
AUM student-athletes contributed 1,189 hours of community service across the River Region during the 2025-26 academic year. Nearly 80 percent of student-athletes participated, with six teams achieving full participation.
Warhawk student-athletes supported organizations and initiatives including the Central Alabama Aging Consortium, Buckmasters, the YMCA, Dream Court, MGMRuns and AUM Athletics events. Baseball led all AUM teams with 327 service hours, while women’s soccer recorded 145.25 hours, the highest total among women’s programs.
AUM ranks No. 33 nationally among NCAA Division II institutions for community service.
Get fall-ready at AUM orientation sessions
Ahead of the start of classes in August, incoming students and their families can visit campus to learn about the AUM community. New Student Orientation helps students register for classes, connect with campus resources, meet fellow Warhawks and prepare for a successful start to the semester.
Building these connections and gaining the tools needed to thrive at AUM helps students feel confident and prepared from day one.
The next fall orientation session will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, Aug. 7 on campus with an additional session set for Aug. 14.

Get ahead and register for math placement tests
AUM’s free math placement program can help students save time and tuition costs. Students can take the next math placement tests on Friday, Aug. 7 at 9 a.m. in the ISL Goodwyn Hall 202.
