Meet A’mya Rabb

I’ve always been captivated by what the human eye can’t see — the way a single cell can reveal what’s happening deep inside the body, the way healing begins at a level most people never think to look. That fascination led me to Auburn University at Montgomery’s Medical Laboratory Science program.

What sealed my decision to become a Warhawk was the accumulation of opportunities that kept showing up — leadership roles, mentors who believed in me, a campus culture that felt less like an institution and more like family. AUM felt like home. It became a space where I could grow, be challenged, and step into the young woman I was destined to become.

I’ve spent my time here saying yes — to serving as CAB Director, Assistant Director of Delight Ministries, a Resident Assistant, Peer Mentor, and SGA Senator, often all at once. That balance taught me time management, communication, and resilience I now carry into the demanding MLS program.

Through it all, one person has remained a constant source of strength: Lastella Paradise Watson, Associate Director in Student Accounts. Even when I doubt myself, she never doubts me. Her belief in me carried me through illness and mental health struggles alike. The staff and students truly form the body of this university — they’ve made me feel seen, valued, and part of a community that genuinely cares.

That sense of belonging crystallized the day I put on my white coat. Standing there, I felt every late night and every doubt transform into purpose. It made me confident I am exactly where I’m meant to be.

Outside the classroom, my creativity flows through music — saxophone, drums, and piano — each shaping my discipline and love of collaboration.

Now, as I work toward graduating in Summer 2027, I’m looking ahead to a career in a clinical laboratory, with plans to move into forensics. My goal is simple but powerful: use science to serve people, one discovery at a time
