Warhawk Welcome Weeks

• Students can take semesters abroad in places like Costa Rica and South Africa and summers abroad in the Galapagos Islands.

• Faculty members currently have grants from the National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Energy, and the Alabama State Department of Education.

• Nearly 20 percent of students do research with a faculty member and many go on to publish papers and travel to conferences.

• Chris Norris was just accepted into graduate school at Auburn University to study population genetics in lizards.
• Kaori Knights runs the Flow Cytometry Lab at Kansas State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine.
• Anna Parker and Aya Zaeid have recently graduated from law school.
• After his tenure working at the Alabama Department of Environmental Management, Greg Vison  is now a professional angler.
• Matthew Heartsill just accepted a job at the U.S. Geological Survey as a hydrologic technician.
• Nathan Frazier graduated with a masters in Poultry Science from Auburn University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Colorado.
• Andrew Nichols was recently accepted into graduate school and will be pursuing a Ph.D.
• Amanda Strozier is pursuing her master’s in Aquatic Ecology at Auburn University after completing an internship in South Africa to study sharks.

How high will YOU SOAR?

• Add a minor in a subject you’ll use a lot in your career (like Writing and Editing or Geographic Information Systems), or something you just love (what about Music or Computer Science?). 
• Apply to the University Honors Program, a diverse community of students who take classes together, work on community service projects, and travel the U.S. and abroad.

•  The College of Business has an active chapter of Financial Management Association International with students participating in the Student Leaders Conference in New York City.

• Students travel to Atlanta for the CFA Institute Research Challenge, a competition designed for up-and-coming financial professionals.

• The College of Business is accredited by AACSB International—an honor enjoyed by only 900 other collegiate institutions.

• AUM Finance students have benefited from internships with companies such as:

  • Rheem Manufacturing

• Eric L. Jacks is Vice President of Lending at First Community Bank of Central Alabama.
• Tyler Kennedy is a financial planner at Camerio & Company.
• Kyle Stewart is a loan officer/member services consultant.
• Jordan Halloran is a financial advisor assistant.

How high will YOU SOAR?

• Add a minor in a field you love, like Creative Writing, Food, Wine, and Beer Fermentation, or Art History.
• Apply for the University Honors Program, a diverse community of students who take classes together, work on community service projects, and travel the U.S. and abroad.

• Study in a program that merits the same recognition as accounting programs at Yale, Harvard, and distinguished institutions abroad.

• AUM’s accounting program ranks in the top one percent of accounting programs in the world. Only 900 collegiate institutions meet the  AACSB International standards of membership.

• Rodrick Shiver, CPA is a manager with Price Waterhouse Coopers, LLC.
• Mitch Stroud is Manager of Cost Accounting at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing. 
• Kelly Butler is the Alabama State Budget Officer.

How high will you SOAR?

• Start your master’s degree early. Seniors in the BSBA/Accounting program can take graduate classes in the Master of Accountancy degree program (MAcc) and waive the GMAT with good grades.
