International Graduate Student Requirements

International Graduate Student Requirements

  • A completed AUM online application; no application fee.
  • Official transcript from each university you’ve attended (mailed or e-mailed directly to AUM by each institution) and official English translation(s) if your transcript is not in English.
  • Proof of English proficiency (unless you are exempt). You can take the TOEFL IBT (minimum 61 points), the IELTS (minimum 5.5 points), PTE (minimum 44), Duolingo (minimum 90), or the TOEFL PBT (minimum 500 points). More information about English proficiency test requirements.
  • Satisfactory results on one of the graduate entrance examinations. The College of Business requires you to have taken the General Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). The Colleges of Education, Public Policy & Justice, and Arts & Sciences require either the general section of the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or the Miller Analogies Test (MAT).  All scores must be sent directly from the testing agency.
  • Proof of sufficient financial resources (Bank statement and/or letter from your sponsor in English). The bank statement should show at least $27,363 available.
  • Certain graduate programs may require additional items not listed here; upon applying to such programs applicants will be contacted for such items.

  • Most graduate programs accept students throughout the year
  • If you want to start at AUM in fall semester, please apply by July 15
  • If you want to start at AUM in spring semester, please apply by November 15
  • If you want to start at AUM in summer semester, please apply by April 15
  1. Complete Online Application.
  2. Send necessary documents to AUM.
  3. AUM reviews your application.
  4. If AUM needs more information and/or documents, we will contact you.
  5. If you are accepted, AUM sends you an acceptance letter and an I-20 Certificate.
  6. You pay a SEVIS fee and apply for a student visa at the US Embassy/Consulate in your country.

International Student Scholarship
The International Student Scholarship is for incoming and current international students who pay full out-of-state tuition. Ranging from $2000 to $4000 per year, the scholarship is based on academic merit and applies only to tuition.

Value

$4,000 a year ($2,000 for each semester of fall and spring semesters)

Minimum requirements to receive scholarship up to $4,000 per year:

New Students:

Undergraduate grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.00 scale or one of the following language test scores:

  • 76 or higher on TOEFL IBT
  • 540 or higher on TOEFL ITP or PBT
  • 6.5 on IELTS

Current Students: 3.5 cumulative AUM grade-point average

Value

$2,000 a year ($1,000 for each semester of fall and spring semesters)

New Students:

Undergraduate grade-point average (GPA) of 2.75 on a 4.00 scale or one of the following language test scores:

  • 68 or higher on TOEFL IBT
  • 520 or higher on TOEFL ITP or PBT
  • 6.0 on IELTS

Current Students: 3.25 cumulative AUM grade-point average
