It marked an improvement of 39 positions from 2023 and placed AUM third in the state, trailing only Alabama and UAB.

“We are honored to be recognized by U.S. News & World Report for the quality of our online programs,” AUM Chancellor Carl A. Stockton said. “Rankings such as these reflect our efforts to develop a challenging and engaging curriculum, effectively leverage existing and emerging technology and offer resources that promote student success. It is a tribute to the hard work of our faculty and staff, as well as the dedication our online learners demonstrate in pursuing their degrees.”

AUM’s online criminal justice master’s degree ranked 69th nationally among its peers.

Inclusion in U.S. News’ Best Online Programs rankings follows improvement by AUM in the news organization’s 2024 Best Colleges survey released in Fall 2023. In that roundup, AUM earned a No. 29 ranking among the top public regional universities in the South for overall quality. AUM also placed 38th among “Best Value Schools” in the South.

AUM’s online undergraduate bachelor’s degree programs include general business, nursing (RN to BSN), medical laboratory science and a medical laboratory science option that offers a pathway for medical lab technicians to become medical lab scientists.

At the graduate level, AUM offers 17 online master’s degrees, nine education specialist degree options, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice.

The university’s online programs adhere to Quality Matters standards, while students have access to such support systems as online tutoring, web conferencing and a virtual technology help desk.
