Would you like to meet with a tutor? The Learning Center and Instructional Support Labs are still here serve you! We are conducting tutoring sessions in person or through Blackboard Collaborate. For the Learning Center, schedule your appointment using our tutoring app or call us at (334)244-3470 between 8:00 – 5:00 Monday through Friday. For the Instructional Support Lab, drop in anytime in person or virtually at www.aum.edu/isl-chatroom during normal operating hours.
The Learning Center provides tutoring services related mainly to the liberal arts and other subjects in the core curriculum. Our tutors/consultants are highly qualified people in their fields who receive training in techniques to enhance learning. Writing tutors, for instance, work with undergraduate and graduate students in every course across the curriculum and have been trained to help non-native speakers of English.
After making an appointment, students have access to two half-hour sessions per week for each class they are registered. The Learning Center is located on the second floor of the AUM Library Tower and is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. Call (334) 244-3470 or stop by 225 Library Tower to make an appointment.
The Instructional Support Lab and the Learning Center are coordinated by the WASC and are important components of our academic support program. These resources are here to support your intellectual development and help you to succeed in your academic coursework across the curriculum.
We have made Online Learning Center resources available to you for a range of topics and needs.
BE PROACTIVE: LC tutors offer you learning strategies based on your individual learning styles. Writing tutors work with undergraduate and graduate students in every course across the disciplines and have been trained to help non-native speakers of English.

Our Greatest Resource. Outstanding tutors work with you to create a unique and dynamic learning environment.
Current and Available. We keep the most recent editions of the textbooks and solution manuals used by AUM’s math and science faculty, as well as retired tests in several subjects.
We’ve Got Guts. Anatomy: From single cells to full torsos, the ISL has a generous collection of A&P models. Our oversized table spread with an array of arms, legs, skulls, eyes, and ears accommodates groups working together. Chemistry: Boxes and boxes of elements and bonds for you to create 3-D structures of the molecules you love to learn.
BE PROACTIVE: The ISL has a staff of dedicated tutors, 24-feet of white board, current textbooks, solution manuals, retired tests, A&P models, atomic models, Windows and Linux Operating Systems, a printer and a photocopier… and it’s all here to help you be successful in your classes.
BE FLEXIBLE: Tutors may shift between students and small groups in order to give help to as many students as possible.
BE RESPECTFUL: Be aware of the learning experience of those around you. Keep your language clean and eat meals elsewhere.
BE REALISTIC: We will partner with you if you put forth reasonable effort, but we will not enable academic irresponsibility.
SIGN UP: If you are assigned to the ISL to fulfill their 0700 tutoring requirement, you must be enrolled in an ISL Supplemental Class to receive credit.
DON’T MISS: Your attendance is mandatory and 10% is deducted from your ISL Supplemental Class grade for each unexcused absence.
