Holiday offers burst of color on AUM campus
Auburn University at Montgomery’s Indian Student Organization created a beautiful human rainbow while observing a holiday rooted in ancient traditions and mythology.
Each year, AUM’s ISO chapter observes Holi, a vibrant Hindu festival celebrating the triumph of good over evil, the arrival of spring, and love and unity. On Thursday, March 13, the student organization invited members of the campus community to join in the celebration in the greenspace behind the AUM Library Tower.
What makes AUM’s celebration of Holi particularly memorable for first-time participants is that they will come away with tangible reminders of the event on their skin, in their hair and on their clothing. One of the playful aspects of the holiday is that revelers will throw and smear colored powder and water at one another.
