AUM modifies Spring 2021 semester calendar

Auburn University at Montgomery has modified its Spring 2021 semester academic calendar, including a delayed start to January classes that will replace the traditional spring break.

The change supports university efforts to reduce risks of potential COVID-19 transmission associated with holiday travel. Under the revised calendar, Spring semester classes will begin on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021 – a week later than originally scheduled.

The absence of a spring break will allow for final exams to be completed by Wednesday, May 5, and for spring commencement to be held on Saturday, May 8. The on-campus housing move-in process for resident students will begin on Friday, Jan. 15.

All university units will be open for business on Monday, Jan. 4, as originally scheduled.

AUM students and employees are reminded that, after Thanksgiving break, remaining Fall semester coursework and exams will be completed remotely.

The university will host Fall 2020 commencement on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m. at Garrett Coliseum. AUM’s commencement plan has been reviewed and approved by the Alabama Department of Public Health.

During the holiday season, we encourage all Warhawks to “Protect Your Nest” from COVID-19 through the following measures:

  • Obtain a flu shot
  • Cover your beak – wear a facemask that covers your nose and mouth
  • Watch your wingspan – observe social distancing of at least 6-feet, or the approximate width of Curtiss The Warhawk’s full wingspan
  • Avoid large social gatherings
