Office of the Provost

Jennifer BrownWelcome to Office of the Provost at Auburn University at Montgomery.  The five academic schools at AUM—Business, Education, Liberal Arts, Nursing, and Sciences—offer a variety of majors and pre-professional programs from which students can choose for future careers.  In addition, the core curriculum ensures that students are well versed in a general liberal arts and sciences education.  AUM is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the three professional schools—Business, Education and Nursing—are nationally accredited.   The Provost Office is also home to a number of offices that exist to enrich the experience of the Auburn Montgomery student.  The Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs and the Office of International Studies strive to broaden our perspectives and our horizons both figuratively and literally.  The Office of Research and Graduate Studies support our graduate student population while the Office of Undergraduate Studies is focused on the enrichment of our undergraduate students.  The Provost Office is also home to many other support and student development functions from the Library to Student Services, and even the Honors Program, to name but a few.  Jennifer A. Brown, Interim Provost

As the leader of the academic units, I am pleased that AUM has built a solid reputation of providing a high quality education for our students and boasts of successful alumni who more than adequately represent the high standards and rigor of our curriculum.  Our classes are small in size and the majority of classes are taught by full-time doctoral level faculty.  The faculty have excellent credentials and meet high standards for teaching research and service.  Perhaps even more important, they care about their students and want to see those students succeed.

Realizing that only a portion of an AUM student’s education occurs in classrooms, the many other areas of the Provost Office work to provide a welcoming atmosphere and a vibrant student life.  Services that students need in order to learn and live on our campus are provided by dedicated and caring staff.  The newly renovated Taylor Center and the Wellness Center scheduled to open in the summer of 2012 will add to the amenities that enhance campus life.

It is truly an exciting time in the life of Auburn Montgomery.  I say that with confidence, conviction, and authority.  After all, having been at AUM for the last 35 years, I believe I have a good perspective about where AUM has been and where we are going.  If you are exploring different universities, I hope you will carefully consider Auburn Montgomery.  We are always interested in intelligent, well-rounded students.  I assure you that you can find a home at AUM.  If you are a current student, I encourage you to take full advantage of the opportunities before you.  Your time in school should be one of the best times of your life.  At Auburn Montgomery, you are important.  Don’t forget that.

The employees of the Office of the Provost are eager to assist you and ask you to explore the AUM website for more information about the exciting programs we offer. I encourage you to also visit our campus and take a campus tour.  That will give you a chance to discover the exciting educational opportunities available at AUM.

Sincerely,

Jennifer A. Brown, Interim Provost
