Students helped each family save an average of $400 per tax return. “Partnerships like these are invaluable to the success of this initiative in providing needed services to hardworking families and giving meaningful service opportunities to students,” said Maggie Baucom, AmeriCorps Member and SaveFirst Volunteer Coordinator. This tax season, AUM accounting students served at free tax preparation sites across Montgomery to help prepare 1,638 tax returns for working families, securing them more than $2.8 million in tax refunds and saving them more than $650,000 in commercial tax preparation fees. Summer 2018 class updates Classes/seats are still available for Summer 18. Classes Start June 4, and the last day to add classes is June 7. Register today! Summer 2018 Payment Plans open For the Summer 2018 semester, AUM will be offering two payment plans: 3-month and 2-month. The positions begin in the Fall 2018 semester and will continue into the Spring 2019 term. Experience with Adobe InDesign is required for the graphic design position. Experience with InDesign is also preferred for the Editor position but not required. All candidates must be enrolled as either a full- or part-time student during the year to serve in the position. He or she must maintain a 2.0 grade point average. Applicants should also have completed ENGL1010 and ENGL1020. To apply, potential candidates will need to submit both a one-page letter of intent that describes their vision for the magazine and a one-page resume that describes their qualifications for serving in the position. Candidates can send their letter of intent and resume as attached Microsoft Word documents to the Filibuster’s academic advisor, Dr. Robert Klevay. Deadline to apply: May 31, 2018.
