Intramural Sports

Intramural sports offers a great opportunity to engage in competition and meet other students, faculty and staff. Everyone is welcome regardless of your skill level. At AUM, we have a number of individual and team sports for both men and women, including:

  • Flag football
  • Basketball
  • Softball
  • Table tennis
  • Dodgeball
  • Sand volleyball

The purpose of the Intramural Sports program is to provide an opportunity for every AUM student to participate in some type of competitive sports activity regardless of interest, ability, and available free time. Rules and regulations have been established for each sport and team captains serve as representatives of each team and work with the Campus Recreation Intramural Sports Coordinator to organize and administer events.

Goals of the Program

  1. To provide wholesome and healthy activities for recreation and relaxation from strenuous school work and the rapid pace of modern society for students, faculty and staff members.
  2. To provide equipment, facilities and encourage wholesome participation in a large number of sports activities by students, faculty and staff members.
  3. To stimulate an interest in athletics and recreation through a high quality program.
  4. To provide an opportunity to develop sportsmanship of the highest order. Everything that sportsmanship implies should be developed on playing fields and playing courts of AUM.
  5. To provide an opportunity to learn the important values developed through team spirit and cooperation.
  6. To provide the opportunity to belong to a group.
  7. To provide an opportunity to make social contacts and friendships which could not readily be developed in the classroom.
  8. To provide the opportunity for every student regardless of his/her ability to realize the joy and fun of participation in their favorite sport.

Frequently Asked Questions

Intramurals offer a level of sports competition that is offered by most colleges and universities. It is where students, faculty, staff, and even alumni can form teams in various sports and compete against one another internally. Some intramural sports offer an opportunity to play other schools or external participants. This is referred to as extramurals.

Intramural Sports registration is open at least two weeks before each event. You can check specific dates and deadlines for specific events on  IMLeagues.com/aum.

Any Auburn University at Montgomery students, faculty, staff, or alumni may participate. Students must be prepared to show proper identification when participating to intramural staff. Some events allow members of the community to participate as well.  Faculty, Staff, Alumni and Community members that wish to participate must be a member of the Wellness Center.
