Warhawk Spotlight: Toussaint’s med school journey draws Twitter interest

Recent Auburn University at Montgomery graduate Felix Toussaint shared news of his acceptance into medical school on Twitter and received a response far beyond his expectations – more than 8 million views, 210,000 likes and 11,500 re-Tweets as well as access to a global network of surgeons, physicians, nurses and health care administrators.

Get hyped for NCAA Division II athletics!

Join AUM Athletics for a Hype Event to celebrate the Warhawks’ first season as a full-fledged member of NCAA Division II. Meet student-athletes and coaches from all sports Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Taylor Center.

Flu vaccines available at Student Health Services

Protect yourself against the flu this season. A limited number of vaccines are now available in Student Health Services for students, faculty, staff and dependents. Vaccines are administered Monday-Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. No appointments are necessary. There is no co-pay for BlueCross and Blue Shield cardholders. For all others, the cost is $25.

SWOT Team accepting applications

Have you ever wanted to work in a fun, fast-paced environment? Do you love AUM? Well, the SWOT Team is perfect for you! The Successful Warhawks Orientation and Transitions Team is now accepting application for the 2019-2020 orientation team until September 30. The SWOT Team helps with the  planning and execution of orientation sessions throughout the year to ensure that new students become acclimated to campus and successfully transition into college life.

Interviews will be held October 7-11. Once interviews are completed, 40 members plus 5 alternates will be selected and begin preparing for orientation immediately.

SWOT Team is a yearlong commitment and includes many dates throughout the summer. The SWOT Team also holds weekly trainings on Fridays during both Fall and Spring semesters.

Career Development Center offers portable expertise

The Career Development Center is willing to bring its expertise on job searches, interview preparation, resume development and other topics to classrooms, student organizations and alumni groups. All you have to do is ask.

The center has created a new Presentation Request form that students, faculty, staff, alumni can use to request career development presentations from Career Development Center staff and employer partners. Simply complete the online request form, and the Career Development Center team will contact you to arrange a date and time that are convenient for you.

Submit nominations for AUM Athletics Hall of Fame

AUM’s Department of Athletics seeks nominations for its Hall of Fame class for 2019.

The Hall of Fame is open to former student-athletes, coaches and other individuals who have made significant contributions to the success of AUM Athletics. The nomination deadline is Friday, Oct. 4 Nominations may be submitted by completing an online form. Contact Assistant Director of Athletics for External Relations Tim Lutz will questions.

Ride with AUM Pride

Students, faculty and staff can ride with AUM pride while supporting student scholarships by purchasing a new Auburn University at Montgomery license plate. Faculty and staff will only pay a $5 administrative fee for reserved parking if they purchase or have purchased an AUM license plate. Faculty and staff who have never registered for a reserved parking hangtag will receive their first at no charge when presenting a copy of their AUM license plate tag receipt.

During each successive decal registration period, faculty and staff members who renew their AUM license plate will continue to only pay the $5 administrative fee.
