Focus on being mindful

Too much stress? AUM’s Counseling and Health Promotion Services is hosting “Untangle Your Noodle Through Practicing Mindfulness,” group sessions to help you explore and practice techniques with the goal of stress reduction, increased focus, and acceptance.

Group sessions will be held from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. via Zoom on Tuesdays through October 6.

Mindfulness is a tool that anyone can use at any time. It helps us slow down, manage thoughts and emotions, and be in the present moment as it unfolds. Participating in this group will help you take a deep breath, be present, and untangle your noodle. The group also aims to help you create an understanding of mindfulness with a focus on techniques, benefits and the practice of mindfulness. If you join, the group will be a supportive place to share and process personal experiences.

To register, contact Counseling and Health Promotion Services at 334-244-3469 or email [email protected].

Feedback Friday

Join us on Zoom at 1 p.m. on the first Friday of each month as we discuss ways to improve your housing experience.

30-Day Wellness Challenge

Are you up for a challenge? If so, the AUM Wellness Center wants to reward students who engage in a healthy lifestyle during its 30-Day Wellness Challenge.

The 30-Day Wellness Challenge is about creating healthy eating habits, getting enough sleep, ensuring that we move our bodies, and of course not forgetting to take time to breathe. The Wellness Center will give away weekly prizes based on the challenge’s theme of the week. One grand prize will be awarded at the end to the student who completes the most daily challenges in the month.

How to participate

Throughout September, follow the Wellness Center on Instagram @aum_wellnesscenter for weekly tips on how to eat, sleep, move, and breathe your way to wellness. Each day, the Wellness Center will share a different challenge activity for students to complete. Students must share a picture of them completing the activity and tag the AUM Wellness Center using the hashtags #eatsleepmovebreathe, #AUMWellness, and #AUM on Instagram.

Prize announcements will be included in the Wellness Center’s Instagram stories each Monday. Consideration for weekly prizes will be determined by the number of activities each student completes for a themed week (Monday through Sunday).

Check the Wellness Challenge Calendar for daily challenge activities.
