Political Film Series features Suffragette The Political Film Series is back for another semester of exciting, educational films and intelligent discussion!

pfs_suffragette.jpg“Suffragette” is a thrilling historical drama tracking the courageous story of the foot soldiers
of the early feminist movement in England. The final turns of the tale are rather suspenseful, but “also stirring and clear-eyed – the best kind of history less” as the New York Times writes. Dr. Elizabeth Woodworth will introduce the film in dedication
of International Women’s Day.

The Political Film Series is sponsored by the Department of Political Science and Public Administration and is made possible thanks to a grant from the Ida Belle Young Special Projects Fund. All showings are free and open to the public; popcorn and soda are complimentary. For further information or to receive email updates, please email

CHPS launches Orange Folder Initiative Counseling and Health Promotion Services is pleased to bring you the Orange Folder Initiative. Under this initiative, faculty and staff have access to an “Orange Folder,”
which contains a quick mental health and behavioral reference. Orange Folder information identifies common signs of concerning behavior and provides guidance to faculty/staff on how to respond and whom to contact — such as Accountability and Advocacy,
Campus Police, WASC, Student Health Services — in the event you encounter a student in distress. To launch this initiative, we are providing informative training sessions for faculty and staff who work directly with students — either in or out of the
classroom. The Recognizing and Helping Students in Crisis: How to use the Orange Folder course is led by the AUM Counseling Center’s Associate Director of Clinical Services at AUM’s Counseling Center Greta Chambless and AUM Title IX Coordinator Leslie
Meadows. Attendees will gain critical insight into concerns that our students may encounter. You will learn about tools and approaches that you can use to respond effectively to best support our students who may be facing a crisis or safety concern. Participants
will leave the session with an Orange Folder, a valuable resource that will be useful in recognizing and responding to students in crisis. The session can be provided on demand at your next staff meeting. For information about on-demand training, please
email Leslie Meadowsor call her at 334-244-3755, or email Counseling and Health Promotion Services or call them at 334-244-3469.
