Wiley accepts Sahinoglu informatics paper

In November 2017, Wiley Interdisciplinary Reviews (WIREs): Computational Statistics accepted the paper “CLOUD Computing Risk Management for i) Server-Farm Repair Rates, ii) Consumer Load Cycle, iii) Server-Farm Repair Crew Count, iv) Additional Servers,” by Dr. Mehmet Sahinoglu, Director of AUM’s Informatics Institute. Interested students and colleagues can request a copy of the paper from Sahinoglu.

The paper is the culmination of peer reviewed contributed (international) and invited technical papers and a local colloquium, and published an Advanced Review journal article by WIREs (Wiley Interdisciplinary Reviews), submitted a NSF grant and published three international books during the second half of 2017 in a chronological order as follow:

  1. M. Sahinoglu, (2017). “Market-Centric and Quantifiable Risk Management of CLOUD Computing by Operational Planning,” Invitational Seminar at Colorado State University, Computer Science Department, May 18, 2017.
  2. M. Sahinoglu, R. Balasuriya and S. Capar, (2017). “Selecting Type-I and Type-II Error Probabilities in Hypothesis Testing with Game-Theory, “CPS 200 (Contributed Paper Session), Proceedings of the 61st ISI World Statistics Congress (WSC), Marrakech, Morocco, Proceedings Abstract Book, OR-B08 (Methods and Theory 08), p. 68, 16-21 July, 2017.
  3. M. Sahinoglu, (2017).  “Sahinoglu-Libby (SL) Probability Density Function,” AUM Mathematics Colloquium invited by the AUM Math Club and Engineering Club, Sept. 29, 2017.
  4. M. Sahinoglu, (2017). “CLOUD Computing Risk Assessment and Management in Modern Power Systems – Application to Microgrids,” Invitational Seminar at Syracuse University’s Department of Electrical Engineering  and Computer Science and CASE, Nov. 8, 2017.

Additionally, in Dec. 2017, Sahinoglu submitted an NSF-National Science Foundation grant proposal under the Computational and Data-Enabled Science and Engineering in Mathematical and Statistical Sciences. The proposal was titled, “Development of Math-Statistical Algorithms to Estimate Type-I and Type-II Error Probabilities Using Game-Theory.” The grant request for $155,826 would cover  a three-year period. Results are expected to be announced by NSF in Spring 2018. The grant proposal will include a principal investigator and two AUM graduate students to work in the applied project if and when funded.

Lastly, Dr. Sahinoglu’s three peer-reviewed books were published by LAMBERT Academic Publishing of Germany during the latter part of 2017 as follow:

  1. How to Quantify Metrics to Assess & Manage Wireless Security Risk: An Automated Software Tool for an Enterprise to Assess and Manage Risk Quantitatively Based on Performance Data. With S. Morton, N. Gokul.
  2. Quantitative Metrics to Assess & Manage Mining Safety with Risk Meter: How to Minimize Mining Disasters Cost Effectively by a Practical in-House Check Point Tool using an Automated Software. With S. Morton, M. K. Ozfirat, P. Venkatram.
  3. CLOUD Risk Assessment & Management Survey Tool for Users and Providers. With S. Morton, C. Vadla, K. Medesani.
