Creativity outside the classroom

Social distancing and online course delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic have presented challenges for student artists who thrive on hands-on work, collaboration and seeing their results on display in a physical space.

AUM lecturers Marguerite Gilbertson and Katherine Irwin helped media and design students find an online outlet for their creativity. The result – “A Quarantined Curated Collaboration” – showcases the work of students who took Visual Communication and 3D Design classes during the spring semester.

Celebrating the Spring 2020 graduates

Our spring Class of 2020 has navigated through a pandemic, overcame challenges in life and discovered their passions to complete their degrees. Throughout May, we are celebrating their outstanding achievements through our Graduate Spotlight series on our social media platforms and through feature stories.

Check out our ongoing series on our Facebook and Instagram pages, where you’ll find spotlights on outstanding students like Dominique Coleman and Taniya Frazier, among others.

You also can read our feature stories on AUM Honors Program graduates Elizabeth Meads, who distinguished herself through her passion for history and her commitment to helping others, and Karen Licari, who shared her love for ballet and designing costumes and scenery for plays as a member of Theatre AUM.

While we can’t hold our usual May commencement ceremony due to the coronavirus pandemic, we look forward to holding a rescheduled, in-person commencement ceremony to celebrate and recognize the hard work of our spring Class of 2020 Aug. 15.
