“Extracted,” Annie B. Campbell solo exhibition closes this weekGoodwyn Gallery and the Department of Fine Arts is pleased to present “Extracted,”a solo exhibition of the work of Annie B. Campbell, which will be on view through March 23. Campbell serves as an Assistant Professor of Fine Art at Auburn University.
Interested in becoming a UNIV teacher?Are you an AUM faculty or staff member interested in teaching first-year students and helping them succeed at AUM? UNIV is a commitment to AUM’s mission to exemplify excellence
through education, as well as the institution’s emphasis on increasing retention, persistence, and graduation rates. UNIV provides opportunities for students to successfully transition into college, both academically and personally. We designed UNIV to
help students foster a connection of belonging at AUM and provide the skills needed to engage with their classes in a way that promotes academic advancement and persistence through graduation. Specifically, the course orients students to AUM’s academic
expectations; introduces them to AUM services in place to support their academic success; guides them through professional, academic, and personal goal-setting processes; and provides a peer cohort with whom they experience their first semester. In addition
to providing professional development, resources, supplies, and support, we create the course syllabus and build the course in Blackboard for you. UNIV instructor applications for the 2018-19 academic year will be accepted through March 23, 2018and open to current AUM faculty and staff. Undergrad research abstract submissions due this weekThe AUM College of Arts & Sciences will host its annual undergraduate research symposium on Fri., Apr. 13, in the lobby of Goodwyn Hall.
All undergraduates currently or previously taking part in research projects at AUM are eligible to present. Graduate student participation is limited to groups in which the graduate student directly mentored one or more undergraduates. Abstracts should
be electronically submitted to John Hutchison with a CC to Shannon Howard no later than March 23 using the available submission form.
The email abstract submission should have a subject line containing: “2018 UGR Symposium Abstract Submission.” Please submit only one abstract per email. If your abstract requires formatting not supported by the PDF form then you are welcome to attach
a Word document with the abstract formatting exactly as you would want it to be displayed in the program. For more information, including presentation criteria and awards, visit the College of Arts and Sciences research symposium homepage.

Technology Survey for studentsThe ECAR Technology Survey explores how students view and use technology. Participation in the survey will help AUM understand how to improve the support we provide out students.
The anonymous survey will be open from Mar. 26 through Apr. 7. A survey link will be emailed to all undergraduate students on Mar. 26.

Green Fest with HousingSpring has finally sprung and with it comes Housing and Residence Life’s annual Kill-a-Watt Challenge! Every year, Housing and Residence Life encourages residents to embrace the newly
warm weather to do something good for the planet, and this year is no exception! Turn off your lights, unplug your electronics and step out into Green Fest. There will be lots of eco-friendly activities and games as well as lots of tasty food!

Hap Arnold LectureThe Hap Arnold Lecture Program is an annual event jointly sponsored by the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base and Auburn University at Montgomery. The theme for this year’s panel is

to participate in career management workshops covering a variety of topics, including professionalism, networking, job search strategies, resume/CV/cover letter writing, interview preparation and performance, and more. Students will also have the opportunity
to meet employer representatives during a networking lunch. Students need to check-in at the registration table in Goodwyn Hall lobby starting at 8:30 a.m. Business casual dress, and Warhawk IDs are required for attendance. Please register

a free class to show you how to use it to identify grant prospects from over 140,000 non-governmental and federal grant makers. Use FDO Professional to learn about funders’ priorities, giving programs, recently awarded grants and recipients. All are welcome;

Turn a working lunch into a walking lunchJoin the AUM Health Promotion Committee for a 30-minute walk during lunch and take the first steps towards a healthier lifestyle. It can be hard to find time in your
busy schedule to participate in physical activity. However, taking a walk is one of the easiest and effective forms of exercise. The National Walk @ Lunch Day is open to students, faculty, staff and the community. Registration is available through Alabama Blue.

Mock Interview WorkshopsISPI Approved_Design1 (2) (1)_0.pngThe Career Development Center is hosting two days of mock interview workshops, designed to put students in an interview setting, receiving constructive feedback from employment experts on how to improve their interviewing skills. Students who register
through Warhawk Careers on MyAUM will receive a 30-minute interview session time and must check-in 15 minutes prior to their session. The International
Student Professional Initiative (ISPI) will host the first day of interviews–specifically designed for international students and conducted by interviewers skilled in recruiting international students. The second day is open to all students.

Scaleback Alabama continuesMake 2018 the year of YOU! The Wellness Center will help you get started and keep you motivated through the 9 weeks of Scaleback Alabama. In order to participate you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Live in Alabama or work for an Alabama-based company
  • Be on a team of 2 individuals
  • Register online or visit an official weigh-in site

Scale Back Alabama.jpgThe Wellness Center will be a private weigh-in site for AUM students and employees.
Your team must weigh out between Apr. 2–6 from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. in the AUM Wellness Center. You do not have to be a member of the Wellness Center to gain access to weigh-in; however, with a signed membership agreement and guess pass you
will be allowed 9 weeks of access as a non-AUM Wellness Center member employee. The Wellness Center is offering an AUMazing prize of its own—a one-year membership will be given to the team selected in a random drawing if both team members each
lose 10 pounds. Your team may be composed of individuals outside of campus, but they will only be eligible for prizes awarded by Scaleback Alabama. Visit

Annual All Majors Career ExpoThe annual All Majors Career Expo is back! Meet with recruiters from corporate, non-profit, and government organizations to discuss a broad range of full-time and internship job
opportunities. This expo is exclusively for AUM students and alumni. Professional dress and Warhawk IDs are required for attendance. Registration is not required. Please bring updated copies of your resume. If you need to schedule a career advising appointment

OJS applications now openMembers of the Orange Jacket Society serve as the official ambassadors of AUM. OJS Members welcome and oversee AUM’s most prestigious events such as graduation, welcoming Chancellor’s
guests to various events and working in the community with AUM Outreach. Selection to the Orange Jacket Society is highly competitive. OJS applicants must be juniors, seniors, or graduate students, and they must have proven passion for AUM. The application
period to become a member of the OJS is open now. Interviews will take place April 5–7 and new members are inducted in May. If you would like to apply for the 2018-19 team, please fill out the available online application.

2018 Eisenhower National Security SeriesFuture Wars, Preparedness and Military Welfare will be at the forefront of the discussion panels during the 2018 Eisenhower National Security Series: College Program,
which is presented by participants of the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle, Pa. The Eisenhower Series College Program is an academic outreach program established by the Department of the Army to encourage dialogue on national security and other
public policy issues between personnel and students of the U. S. Army War College and the civilian public, with emphasis on students and faculty at academic institutions throughout the United States.

Montgomery County apprenticeshipsThe Montgomery County Commission is calling on all Montgomery County students, ages 16–22, to take part in the 2018 Student Apprenticeship Program. The program
lasts eight weeks, beginning Mon., Jun. 4 and ending Fri., Jul. 27. All eligible students are welcome to apply. The application and a letter of recommendation from a school guidance counselor or a Montgomery County Commissioner must be submitted by Fri., Apr. 20at 5 p.m. FAQs and more information on the apprenticeship is available at www.mc-ala.org. Internships are also offered, but requirements and eligibility are different from the apprenticeships. For more
