ROTC offers bonus to college sophomoresA newly established $5 thousand bonus will be awarded to current college sophomores who can pass the challenge of attending cadet basic training and accept the mission to lead the finest soldiers in the world. “We’re looking for high quality college sophomores
to join ROTC and attend basic camp here at Fort Knox this summer,” said Major General Christopher P. Hughes, Commanding General, U.S. Army Cadet Command. He added, if they successfully complete basic camp, Cadet Command wants to contract them and pay
the $5 thousand signing bonus. Upon graduation, cadets who have successfully completed the military science requirements will receive a position as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army. The cadet may elect to be part of the Army, Army Reserve or Army

Evans authors essaysDr. Bob Evans is the author of two newly published essays. “War and Peace: Its Reception in Nineteenth-Century America” and “Anna Karenina: Its Reception in Nineteenth-Century America” are both published in Tolstoy: Critical Insights, edited by Rachel
Stauffer and published by Salem Press.

AUM-SPLC on Campus Club
and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion are collaborating on an exciting event to honor Black History and apply Martin Luther King Jr.’s
messages to contemporary salient minority issues. Khaula Hadeed is giving a talk on “Being Muslim in Alabama” that the entire AUM community is invited to attend. Hadeed is an AUM alumna and a graduate of Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.
Currently, she serves as the Director of CAIR-Alabama in Birmingham. CAIR (The Council of American-Islamic Relations) is a nonprofit grassroots civil rights and advocacy group striving to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue and build
coalitions that promote justice. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will also be served.

Political Film Series features MarshallThe Political Film Series is back for another semester of exciting, educational films and intelligent discussion!
pfs_marshall.jpg The legal thriller “Marshall” is set during the 1940s when a young NAACP attorney from New York City
and future Supreme Court Justice, Thurgood Marshall, is called to Bridgeport, Connecticut to defend a black man, Joseph Spell. A moving, sometimes funny, story filled with plenty of suspense about power, racial, religious and gender discrimination, “Marshall”
will be presented Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. in Goodwyn Hall 109. The film will be introduced by special guest, Circuit Clerk Tiffany B. McCord, in dedication to Black History Month.
The Political Film Series is sponsored by the Department of Political Science and Public Administration and is made possible thanks to a grant from the Ida Belle Young Special Projects Fund. Housing and Residence Life believes in community service, and our community’s animal friends need help! Make sure to wear comfortable clothes with closed-toe shoes that you don’t mind

College Competition, a competition between campus colleges and departments to increase attendance of faculty and staff at home sporting events. Make sure to sign-in when you arrive at the games so that the points are counted for your respective college!
The women’s basketball games all begin at 6 p.m.with the men’s basketball team following at 8 p.m.for the following games:

Grad students – Apply for scholarships today!The Auburn University at Montgomery Alumni Association is now accepting applications for the 2018-19 Graduate Study Merit Scholarships through March 1. To be eligible for the scholarships, students must:

  • Be fully admitted to an AUM graduate program
  • Have completed at least 9 hours of graduate study
  • Have a current GPA of 3.4 or higher

A completed application will include, among other things, two letters of support (preferably from AUM faculty or staff), a 250-word essay on career objectives and a current resume. Applicants will be notified of their award status by mail. Interested
students can email [email protected] for an application or print off an application to fill out.

“Extracted,” Annie B. Campbell Solo Exhibitionextracted.jpg
Goodwyn Gallery and the Department of Fine Arts is pleased to present “Extracted,”a
solo exhibition of the work of Annie B. Campbell, which will be on view March 23. Campbell serves as an Assistant Professor of Fine Art at Auburn University and is the visiting artist
for Auburn University at Montgomery’s annual Southern Studies Conference. As a component of the Southern Studies Conference program, Campbell will give an Artist Talk
on Friday, February 9th at 4:45 pm in Goodwyn Hall 109, followed by a Gallery Reception at 5:45 pm.
Scaleback Alabama continuesMake 2018 the year of YOU! The Wellness Center will help you get started and keep you motivated through the 9 weeks of Scaleback Alabama. In order to participate you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Live in Alabama or work for an Alabama-based company
  • Be on a team of 2 individuals
  • Register online or visit an official weigh-in site

The Wellness Center will be a private weigh-in site for AUM students and employees. Your team must weigh out
between Apr. 2–6 from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. in the AUM Wellness Center. You do not have to be a member of the Wellness Center to gain access to weigh-in; however, with a signed membership agreement and guess pass you will be allowed 9 weeks of
access as a non-AUM Wellness Center member employee. The Wellness Center is offering an AUMazing prize of its own…a one-year membership will be given to the team selected in a random drawing if both team members each lose 10
pounds. Your team may be composed of individuals outside of campus, but they will only be eligible for prizes awarded by Scaleback Alabama. Visit
