Warhawk Weekly 1–14: AUM earns national recognition; Submit Homecoming designs

NEWS

Three Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) programs earned national recognition in U.S. News & World Report’s newly released listings of the nation’s top online educational programs.

According to U.S. News, AUM ranked among the top 35 percent nationally in the following categories:

  • Top online bachelor’s degree programs
  • Best online graduate education programs
  • Best online MBA programs

U.S. News & World Report’s rankings consider a variety of factors, including surveys of academic officials from peer institutions, faculty credentials and training, the strategies and tactics universities use to engage online learners, and the services and technologies available to online students.

“We’re very pleased to be recognized by U.S. News & World Report once again,” said Auburn University at Montgomery Chancellor Carl A. Stockton. “Our presence in the 2020 Best Online Programs rankings reflects the hard work and dedication of our faculty and staff in ensuring our online students are properly challenged and supported as they pursue their degrees at Auburn University at Montgomery.”

AUM currently offers 18 degree options that allow students to complete coursework entirely online, although some students choose “hybrid” options that blend traditional, face-to-face classroom interaction with online learning activities. AUM Senior Director of Online and Digital Learning Carolyn Rawl said the vast majority of AUM’s online students tend to reside within an hour of campus, which tracks with national trends. AUM’s 2019-2024 Strategic Plan prioritizes the growth and enhancement of the university’s online program and its offerings.

“You have to be aware of who your student body is and be able to adjust and accommodate their needs,” Rawl said. “Students take online courses for flexibility and convenience.”

U.S. News & World Report’s release of its 2020 Best Online Programs rankings adds to the list of accolades received by AUM during the 2019-2020 academic year. During the fall, AUM earned a No. 33 ranking among regional public universities in the South for overall quality and ranked 88th nationally in the category of “first-year experiences.
