Warhawk Spotlight: Accounting student Lindsay Miller earns elite leadership training

by Neil Probst | Mar 07, 2016

Excellence: AUM accounting student Lindsay Miller was one of just 10 students nationwide selected recently to attend AGA’s National Leadership Training (NLT).

During the last week of February, Miller networked with government financial management officials from across the country while in Washington, D.C., at the conference.

The program, sponsored by the Young Professionals Focus Group (YPFG), provides full-time college students with an opportunity to engage with and learn from leaders in government financial management.

Miller, a junior from Las Vegas and president of AUM’s Accounting Club, was selected in January after taking part in a national scholarship campaign for which she needed to apply, submit an essay, and have a faculty nomination.

Miller’s faculty nomination came from Dr. Keren Deal, professor of accounting in AUM’s School of Accountancy.

“Finalists were chosen from all over country,” said Deal. “Walter Dulaney, another one of our accounting students, was a recipient last year.”

Auburn University at Montgomery’s School of Accountancy, created when the university elevated its accounting department within the College of Business, is the only accounting program in Montgomery and the River Region to earn discipline-specific accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
