First, we would like to thank all of our veterans and their families for the sacrifices made in service to our great country. AUM’s Office of Veteran Services is here to assist students eligible for the U.S. Veterans Administration education benefits and the Alabama National Guard Education Assistance Program (ANGEAP).
The following students are eligible to use Chapter 33 benefits:
Dependents and spouses of veterans who have been determined by the VA as being service connected totally and permanently disabled or if the veteran died while on active duty (service connected) may be eligible for this benefit. Learn more about the Dependents Education Assistance Program.
Students who began active duty service after 6/30/1985, had their pay reduced by $100 a month for 12 months, and who receive an honorable discharge may be eligible for this benefit. Learn more about the Montgomery GI Bill® Active Duty.

Yellow Ribbon is a program that provides additional educational benefits to students that have been awarded Chapter 33 benefits at the 100 percent rate. At AUM students who are charged the out of state tuition rate may be eligible for Yellow Ribbon. The VA and AUM each contribute 50 percent of the certified amount for Yellow Ribbon.
Students with Post 9/11 (Chapter 33) benefits who have exhausted or are about to exhaust their entitlements may be eligible for additional benefits through the Edith Nourse Rogers STEM scholarship. Questions pertaining to the program should be directed to the VA at 1-888-442-4551.
ANGEAP is a program established by the State of Alabama to assist the members of the Alabama National Guard with the cost of their education. Each year the state establishes a maximum dollar amount the eligible student may receive in tuition and fees. To receive ANGEAP, the student must submit a current year application to the Office of Veterans Services for each semester enrolled.
