Bio: After graduating high school, Christine attended Huntingdon College here in Montgomery where she majored in art and psychology. She later received her Master’s in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Eastern Michigan University. For the past seven years she has been an ESL Instructor at AUM. She and her husband have three boys, all of whom give her ample opportunities for teaching and learning every day.
Growing up, she often interacted with people from other cultures through her father’s job. To Christine, it’s very gratifying to witness a student suddenly understand a concept they had been struggling with. She believes these moments create confidence and motivate students to continue putting in the work it takes to be successful academically.

Hello! My name is Elaina Northrop and I am originally from Acworth, Georgia where I grew up with my amazing mom and dad and nine siblings, Yeah that’s right, nine! I have five biological siblings and three adopted siblings. I am a VERY proud middle child. Another cool fact is that when we were going through the adoption process, I had the awesome opportunity to go to China with my parents to bring my siblings home. This is where my absolute love for travel came in. I also enjoy other activities like reading, playing volleyball, hiking, and gardening. I am currently the proud mom of over sixty plants and a deaf puppy whom I rightfully named Escucha. Escucha and I love going on jogs, working out in my apartment’s gym, searching for (and enjoying) all the greatest food spots, and of course, finding new plants to fill all the space I can find.
I attended an online high school known as Georgia Connections Academy while also being dual enrolled at Georgia Military College’s online campus. I graduated a year early from high school and also attained my A.A. degree in Education when I was seventeen years old. I then attended Columbus State University and graduated at nineteen years old with my B.S. in Sociology. I was an active member on campus in several Community Outreach programs while also working as a Community Advisor in the housing department and as an Academic Success Peer Coach in our Advise Center.
I quickly discovered my passion for higher education and my even fonder love for interacting with people from different backgrounds all day, every day. I have been known to talk an ear off once or twice. I also loved having the chance to share what helped me survive as a student with others. Go Warhawks!
