The Medical Laboratory Science program at Auburn University at Montgomery was established in 1977. Every faculty member holds certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology. The four faculty have over 90 years of combined experience in the field of Medical Laboratory Science. The experienced faculty teach skills and theory in the areas of clinical chemistry, clinical hematology, clinical immunohematology, and clinical microbiology to help students become successful Medical Laboratory Scientists.
Our department offers a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science. This program prepares students to be integral members of patient diagnostic, forensic, and medical equipment development and sales teams. The MLT to MLS track is 100% online and is designed for certified medical laboratory technicians (MLTs) who have prior clinical laboratory experience with modern laboratory instrumentation, and for military laboratory personnel who have completed military laboratory specialist school and have laboratory experience with modern clinical laboratory instrumentation.
The curriculum satisfies the requirements adopted by the American Medical Association Council on Medical Education which sets educational standards to ensure that these expected outcomes can be met. This program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).
