2013 Winners Alumni Association Graduate Merit Scholarships

The Auburn University at Montgomery Alumni Association recently awarded its annual Graduate Study Merit Scholarships to six outstanding AUM students. The AUM Alumni Association Graduate Study Merit Scholarships are awarded annually to deserving graduate students at AUM. The scholarships require recipients maintain a GPA of 3.4 or higher, enroll in and complete nine hours each semester, and be continuously enrolled for each semester covered by the award

The $1,000 scholarships, funded by alumni memberships, were awarded by the AUM Alumni Board of Directors to Stephen Bray, April Delchamps, Christina Ellis Garner, Tarsha Patterson, Ronald Snarr, and Emily Witte.

Bray, who resides in Prattville, is earning his Master of Liberal Arts. Bray was awarded a Purple Heart and a Combat Action Ribbon while serving in the United States Marine Corps prior to earning his Bachelor of Arts from AUM. He is a recipient of the Ida Belle Young Graduate Research Assistant Award, and works as a tutor in the AUM Learning Center.

Ms. Delchamps is a resident of Montgomery, and earned a bachelor degree in Communications from the University of South Alabama. A graduate of LAMP High School, she is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration, and works for the City of Montgomery as a Senior Transportation Planner.

A resident of Elmore, Garner expects to earn her Master of Liberal Arts in December 2013. As an undergraduate student at AUM, she was the recipient of both the AUM Academic Excellence Scholarship, and the Guin A. Nance Endowed Scholarship, graduating with a bachelor degree in English. She is active on campus as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, and has worked in the AUM Learning Center.

Patterson is originally from Mississippi, and currently makes her home in Montgomery. She earned a Bachelor degree in Management and Psychology from Jackson State University, and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology at AUM. She works as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and as supervising Social Development Lab Graduate Student Coordinator.

Snarr, a native of Boothwyn, Pennsylvania, earned a Bachelor degree from The Pennsylvania State University in Health Policy and Administration. He is pursuing a Master of Exercise Science, and is a recipient of Catherine Lowder Scholarship. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Certified Personal Trainer. He works as a graduate research assistant in the AUM Human Performance Laboratory.

Witte is a native of Orleans, Nebraska and earned her Bachelor degree in Applied Human and Sport Physiology from Wayne State College. She is working toward a Master’s degree in Secondary Education. She works as a graduate research assistant in the AUM Human Performance Laboratory and volunteers in the Montgomery community.
