Master of Healthcare Administration
Online In-Class

In today’s economy, healthcare providers face constant change in consumer demand, regulation, and technology. The Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) is a professional degree that focuses on developing business leaders who can manage complex environments and drive innovation in hospitals and other healthcare entities. Leaders, such as those with MHA degrees, are in demand; according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of medical and health services managers is projected to grow 32 percent from 2020 to 2030, much faster than the average for all occupations.

In AUM’s interdisciplinary Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program, students will focus on issues such as healthcare economics, healthcare marketing, policymaking, human resource management, and information systems management. The program is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business – International.

In this program, you can earn your graduate degree in as few as three semesters with the flexibility to take classes entirely online or opt for some face-to-face classes. Teaching methods include cases, discussion groups, interprofessional projects and more. The program consists of (11) three-hour courses, including:

  • Managerial Applications of Accounting Information
  • Managing Human Resources for a Competitive Advantage
  • Leadership and Innovative Behaviors
  • Healthcare Economics
  • Financial Evaluations: Models and Applications
  • Data Analytics
  • Healthcare Information Law, Privacy and Security
  • Quality Management and Integrated Systems
  • Planning and Marketing in Healthcare
  • Policy in Healthcare
  • Strategic Analysis for Competitive Advantage

In addition to career help from the Career Development Center, AUM’s Healthcare Administration Advisory Board assists the MHA program and its graduates with advice and job placement assistance.

  • Why should I consider a career in healthcare administration? As a health administrator, you may not always be hands-on with patients, but you will be helping to support or lead the individuals who are. As such, your work makes a real difference in improving patient outcomes
  • Why is an MHA important for my healthcare career? An MHA can enhance your marketability as a business and healthcare professional, increase the quality and quantity of job opportunities, help you build leadership skills, and enhance your professional network.
  • How will being an MBA candidate impact my life?  Working professionals like the flexibility our MBA program offers. You can choose either an online learning environment or a combination of online and on-campus classes (hybrid). On-campus classes are mostly offered at night so your day job isn’t affected.
  • Is an MHA degree worth it? It certainly is, if you want to start or continue working toward leadership roles in a healthcare-related field. In fact, an MHA is considered the “MBA of healthcare” and can provide a great return on investment—fiscally, professionally and personally.
